Just got the old girl done with help from Larry Nash, Bart Nelson and Kevin and Chad at Hot Rod Chassis & Cycle. Wheel from Pearlcraft. Would appreciate your opinions-keep the black steelies or go with chrome reverse & period pie crust whites??? Thanks! Ebert
yeah, i like that! i've been thinking about something for the family.........and still be cool looking...... however, the family is what keeps me from buying another car
I was lucky...I found her with the 2nd owner in NC...36000 mile car that had 1960 or 1961 Pontiac vinyl as the basis for the tuck & roll. Looks like it was done around then...I am lucky it was babied for so long!!! Paint is about 15 years old+. Did not take many "before" pictures, but have some "during"! Flattie guys will hate me, but I wanted something with more "umph." Thanks!
Nice engine! That's what a traditional sbc should look like ( like mine in my '40 back in '64). Nice car, too! vic
Hey Ebert that is truly a kool car. I like it just the way ya have it. Leave it like it is. Are you going to have it at the open house this weekend at Kevins and Chads place?
Thanks, Stick Shift. Unfortunately, I have to miss the Open House at HRCC (Should be a blast) as I have biz on Sunday. Best, Ebert.
DAMN NICE JOB! Your attention to detail is spot on! Love the black rims with ring's, marbled wheel, and that mill look's like it was done circa '62..NICE! Ok, one question though..Electric fan? Just wondering.. That's one 40 i'd love to own. Tony
Tony, Thanks for your comments and yes, it has an electric fan. I drive my stuff and it obviously gets damn hot here, so I went that route. Doesn't look as good, but I hate boilovers! Thanks, Ebert.
Don't blame you a bit.. I drive the wheel's off my stuff as well and many time's go for function over form.. You really did a great job on it. I've been admiring the pics since you posted them.. I'm a chrome steel wheel nut, BUT, the black rim's look so right, so clean i don't know if i'd change them. But that's just me.. I'm sure it'll look just as good either way
Ebert, The wheels and tires will look cool either way, I lean toward the chrome rims. Flip a coin and either way will be cool.............Very nice ride......... Cruiser
Thanks, Tony & Sam. Don't have a ton of pics (took these on Saturday) but here are a couple more. Thanks for the help with the wheels!!! Best, Ebert.
ebert, very nice, i love those early 2x4 corvette style smallblocks. what are the engine details, tranny. Al.
Al, 1960's 283 (not sure of year-not a code guy) bored .30, Real late 50's Corvette intake, dual quads, Comp Cam, aftermarket headers, used one of the latest alternators that look like a generator, hooked up to the 40 trans through a Wilcap adapter, stock rear (to keep era), stock 3 on the tree. We dynoed it at 375hp...not a killer, but all I need. Wanted to keep this thing like it came out of 1958-1961. It may not be the "easiest" to deal with, but it gives me the sense that this is what our brothers dealt with during that period. Thanks for your thoughts and comments!!! Best, Ebert.
Get off the computer and put some miles on that thing. I couldn't stand to see the wheels not turning if I owned it. You nailed the look. Did I mention you should be driving the wheels off it? Frank
WOW, I think I am in love! The black steelies look good, why don't you put one set on one side of the car and another on the other side of the car and see which one gets more noticed? Plus, as my dad once told me, it makes the local cops scratch their heads trying to figure out if that was the same car that cruised by earlier. Looks the same but different rims, he said you could cruise twice as long before they figured it out.
