Wow...that's gotta be one of the best looking flatheads I've seen.

What's the finish on the wire looms and air cleaner bonnets...brushed nickel?

    Thanks,

    Neal

Yes, heads on the floor in background are stock Ford Canadian 24 stud heads.

Wire looms are stock steel looms sanded with scotch brite pad and painted with matt clear enamel. Air cleaners are spun aluminum, I had holes cut and wire mesh put behind for better breathing. I wanted louvers in them but nobody I found could do it. Mike at Sir Michaels did the holes and screen for me. They came out nice and they are unique for sure. Should breath well.

Actual Neal, your engine is the bomb. I studied the pics you posted of it quite a few times... Perfect.

Thermostats are sitting in the neck (after alot of grinding to make room for em) but have a very small set screw in them which goes vertically into the thin neck to keep them in place. They also have a few little holes drilled in them so they don't shut off the flow completely when closed.

Wow...I have to apologize, SE. I really didn't mean to disrespect you. I think it was actually my bad. I made light of what you were saying. The truth is, I have never messed with aftermarket heads...just stock ones. And as I'm sure you know, the thermostats are designed to go in that location on stock heads. Now after thinking about it, I understand where you were coming from. If I've got my facts right, you were referring to the fact that aftermarket heads don't usually accept stock-style thermostats, and you were complimenting Jody on the fact that somebody took the time to modify the heads so that the thermostats could be installed there! Am I correct? I'm sorry. I was trying to be a smarty with actually limited knowlege...doing exactly what I dislike seeing others do. I'm sorry. I'm an ass............I'm a sorry ass! LOL.

I love the luster on the intake and heads is that a speed secret that you'd care to share? Your detailing is beautiful!

Hey Great looking engine! Funny that you mention Neal's engine, when I saw yours, I thought of his. You can see the influence. They're both showstoppers!! Nice work!

Beautiful motor, what are your plans for an oil filter and a fan?

Amazing how much the different colors/finishes change the look.

I really like what Jody did...

...I just noticed something. Is it the angle of the pics or did Edelbrock take the sexy curves out of the Slingshot "Y" when they cast the new ones?

Fan will be stock 40 fan bolted to crankshaft, you can see the hub in the pic.

No oil filter or PCV. I used good air filters and will change the oil often. I should get alot of time out of this engine despite no filter considering it's only used 5K miles per year. Using thermostats should help a little with the sludge issue too so no PCV valve. I'm actually just lazy ... but instead will claim that I wanted it old school...;)

Man, that is nice looking mill. Great job. I also like the look of those looms. I think I'm going to steal that idea.

Question: Are those Ord heads from D. Orosco? They look awesome.

The combination of that motor in that truck will be a helluva good looker. Now about that worthless intake hangin' on the wall that you don't need.............?
