Ha ha, it's an even 6 inches from the gutter following it down to the rear fenders and also an even 6 from the rear fenders to main body line. I was trying to cheat a helmet design into that back panel with the rear window being the visor...lol and yes I'm having fun <center> <a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a25/swade41/Henry%20J/?action=view&current=Scan23.jpg" target="_blank"></a> </center><center> <a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a25/swade41/Henry%20J/?action=view&current=Scan22.jpg" target="_blank"></a> </center>
Lookin Good Phil. Hey Have a nice Christmas, best to you and yours. Dang Christmas already..... long way till opening day. Luke
I'm still in the middle of moving (including my 40'X80' hoby hot rod shop) 200 miles uphill and trying to finish selling my business, but when I get back on my Henry J I'd like to capitalize on it being a No-Trunk model and emphasize the smooth back. I plan to keep the tag below the bumper and swinging on chains as was the thing in my hood back in the day. I'm also thinking about shrinking the back window and making it a split window like the old Willys just so that even the Henry J guys will ask questions. As if we don't get enough "What is it?" questions now. If anyone sees a thread on anyone having done something similar, please send it my way. In the mean time I'm envious of your stick-to-itivenous Phil.
I took a few days off but got back on track today and finished it up. Panels taped off and endless line laid down then I bought a couple 99 cent drop cloths and made a pseudo bag for the car
Then off to town with the rattle cans and shot some Rustoleum enamel clear over the top looking from pass B pillar and the back
S W E E T Phil -- ---as soon as mine blows up ... i'm going back to the dark side and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you ALL
Phil, The Panel look really good. Will you be paneling the sides or fenders? They really pop. Can't wait to see it untaped. Merry Chistmas, Bob
Far out Phil! Nice christmas gift to yourself. Hopefully you make it to Thomspon in June. Can't wait to see this in person.
Thanks everyone, while waiting on the kiddies to go to sleep I snuck out and unwrapped it. Couple screw ups lifting the edge and bled through in a couple spots but hey from the bleachers it'll look just fine. Usually I pull the tape earlier so the edge has a chance to lay down but we had a Christmas party to get to. I will do panels down the sides but the lace probably not. I bought a different kind of material, more like a sheer, and it didn't let much color come through at all. I don't want the traditional flower lace for this car, just doesn't fit for me. I might use that lace I used on the one test panel to do the area behind the quarter windows maybe. Merry Christmas to everyone, Santa came a few days early for me and left me a pretty cool gift ! http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a25/swade41/100_6982.jpg
The paint work looks freakin' slick! I love it! I also really dig your Christmas gift!! Merry Christmas indeed! Tony
I like the single line under everything, so when it's done the line is lighter. Then put a color over the line, and follow with a lace ove rthat and another color. Might even do a semi transparent paint over the line and the lace for a final coat before removing the masked edges. I'm still amazed at how good that roller paint came out! Makes me wish I'd saved the money and rolled mine!
Here's the unwrapped version, I was hoping that you could see enough of it from the sides and it looks to have worked out. I might have a green pinstripe done around the edge yet ? seeing just enough and rear, like the way the license plate area worked out too, you just don't know what you are going to get when you see the whole thing...ha ha
I hear ya! I'll have to ride out on mine someday so we can put some miles on.. The unavailing looks great man! Mad skills with the spray cans! That thing is going to stand out and look good! Tony
