So after a few months of scouring the bare Yukon territory for a car, I finally have one! I posted previously about a 51 Olds 88 with no motor that also turned out to have no papers and no VIN.....but then a few weeks later me and a buddy were going on a car search cruise, as we usually do, when he spotted it. A 1954 Chev 210 4 door. I've always loved the looks of early chevys and I had to find out more about it. No one was home so I left a note on the door asking the owner to contact me with some info. Turns out the son of the property owner is the owner and he lives in Vancouver. Anyways after texting back and forth for a couple weeks, and some negotiating, I managed to pick it up for $2300, which I consider to be a pretty good deal considering the shape and the location. It's a 210 model with the 235 and 3 speed, and all the chrome was redone a while ago. It supposedly ran when it was parked in 1989, but I will find that out this weekend....the only rot is the front floor pans are in pretty rough shape, and there a small hole in the trunk, but other than that it's very solid with no dents. There has also been covers on the seats for a long time so they are in amazing shape. I don't have many pictures but I will get some more this weekend when we clean it up. It won't be ready by prom, but man I'm excited to get to work on it! The last picture is the 3 foot deep nest that the squirrels made in the trunk in the last 25 years! Let me know what you think of the car!
Looks like a great project to me! Get it running, clean it up, put on some fresh tires and enjoy it! As long as you're in no great hurry to get anywhere, the original engine/transmission will serve you well. Change the oil frequently using a ZDDP-rich oil such as Rotella, grease it every 5,000 miles without fail, learn to adjust the lifters and do it often. And please, no flat black paint and red wheels, okay? You've got a nice little ride. Don't F it up doing stuff you'll regret later on in adulthood like the rest of us greybeards did. Good luck!
Don't worry I think the primer and red wheels is very played out. Thanks for the tips! I plan to cut.polish the original paint and ive already shined the chrome up better than I could have imagined! After that just want to lower it, paint the wheels the same as the roof, and get some Whitewalls. Then some chrome bits and pinstriping and drive it!
No, wait.......you paid 2300 bones but the "for sale" sign in your hand says $1000. Looks to be in pretty good shape.
Yeah that's what the po paid for it in 1986 haha. It's in great shape, not a single dent on the outside, but the floors in the front are rotten..
The worst spot on the whole car.. The front passenger and driver floor boards. everywhere is solid other than a small spot in the trunk. And some underneath. Nothing too unexpected.
Good looking car, seems to be in really great shape, good to see someone appreciates the humble 4 doors as it seems everyone's into the 2 door variety Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Looks like a sweet project. That squirrel nest is unreal! What's the device hanging under the dash with the knob on it?
Thanks everyone, and it's an aftermarket heater but I'm not sure what era its from. Looks to me like 70-80's ish? If anyone knows anything about it that would be awesome
Moms first car was a '54 4 door. Uncle Bob painted it green and white two tone, when he finished he laid the green brush from the bottom on the white top... A green rectangle remained as a reminder of my drunk uncle. Cool car. Have fun. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Hahah fourspeedwagon that's hilarious! Mine has been repainted a darker green and a cream roof at one point, still have the original cans of paint for touch ups too
