At the rate Tim builds at it will probably be done by Christmas.

Building quick change is a lot of work for one person. I always thought it would be a neat idea if a group of friends got together and built some. With each person doing his specialized talent, engineering, parts person, tig welding, machining, metal finishing, ect.

Does anyone have any blueprints or plans to build a quick change using a V8 Ford rear end?

 

A******, building a converted QC, can be a tough slog. The biggest problem that I see, is getting the lower shaft and housing "dead pa rallel" to the existing pinion. With all of the welding involved, things move around a lot, making it difficult to pull off. Here is a shot of the "Bart Bilt" unit that I used in my Track Roadster, it was far from perfect but for $200 bucks, it worked OK.

The key there would be to weld absolutely everything and then do all the machining afterwards. Problem solved

 

I'm not a machinist, but welding first, then doing the machining sounds like a plan. Now all we need are the critical dimensions.

I will post the build of the q.c. from start to finish.First thing is a center section from 1935 to 1948.I make everything only buy the bearings and steel.I am an old time tool and die maker six year aprentiship.No cnc stuff here

You Probably got it cheaper than you'll be able piece another QC together!

 

The q. c. center, many people have done this with a ford center, I have many pics of home made ones there are a lot on the hamb to look at.I think some were made before ww2 many in the late 40's.No one person made a bunch, just for there own use, a few for others maybe. every one made different to his way of thinkingI thought about mine for a long time, then when I saw a pic of one made in the middle 50's by Bill Parham from Portland Or. I said this is it because of the rear cover bearings that were not in the cover. Will post pics tomorrow.

 

Nothing wrong with a T on an A frame.
