Yes, Starliner being Mick's gig in Wichita in September. We're looking at it as an alternative to the excessively hot Ledsled in July. I boil enough gasoline as it is... This will be my one and only crossing into Kansas this year.

Good luck with the build, my ch***is was so hacked from years of diff. people and then a creek bed that I replaced with a P/J, 3.00 9 inch, also 305 (its what i had) Charlie Price Vintage Speed "Y" manifold with 2 Stromberg 97"s, 4" dropped Superbell, early 40's juicers on the front, hair pins and ladder bars.... FUN

Hey, that's a damn nice cab to start with, looks like it's got great sub-rails and even a good seat riser. I have to replace all sub-rails, toe boards, cross braces, and stretch the cab :)

so you started a shop that does custom work or what all does it do? I would like to start my own custom/ fabricating shop someday. Hows business in this economy?

Looks like you are in for a long ride, starting with just a couple of parts! good luck

She is solid in a lot of spots. But not so solid in others. For example, a farmer stick welded a roof to it once. Beat the hell out of it in the process. Going to be fun either way though. Any pointers on gear boxes? I know f100 but what years?

You running a flathead? Looking for a top loader?

Edit: Went back and read this thread again. You say "305". I'm thinking that's a Chev. Are you doing an adapter to use an early Ford 3 speed? Or are you really thinking late Ford 4 speed ******? Getting confused.

BTW - don't use a truck trans as the first gear ratio is pretty steep.

  7. If I took my car to a shop I would be happy to find they were doing research before tearing into my car. I don't know of any shop that knows every detail of every car ever built.

I have one of those SM465 rock crawler 4 speeds in my '71 PU. I can't remember the last time I actually used first gear.

Not a lot of power in a 305 usually. You could go M-21 or even Saginaw. T-10 maybe? Lots of choices. Even a T-5 if the shifter location doesn't bother you. The S-10 version is forward shifted and looks more traditional in the cab. Getting scarce, tho.
