Actually I now have two!! A 2-door post and a 4-door parts car. Just picked them up last weekend for my 40th Birthday. The guy was asking 3800 for the 2 cars, I offered him 3000 and he gave me some line about a guy coming in from out of town that weekend to look at it, I said my offer stands. He called me back 2 hours later and offered to throw in a running 454 and T400 if I came up to 3800, I inspected the motor and turned it over, everything looked fine so I took it all. The '55 already has all the bodywork done, very little filler, all new patch panels welded in, leafs re-located inboard of the frame, disc brakes on the front and a power steering box already installed. It's gonna be alot of work to finish it but it will be fun!! I have always wanted a '55 since I have wanted cars!! I am planning on a old street-racer look and set-up, not really a gasser but similar. Like the Two Lane Blacktop car but yellow.
nice! you can ditch the PS, and I see the dash is already set up for gages (even has a place on the pass side for the fuel and amp gages to keep your copilot busy) Big blocks in 55 chevys are fun
I'm really looking toward this part! But.. Yellow? Like just plain yellow? Yes they are. iPhone - TJJ App
Congrats on scoring a '55 but this ain't the site to be posting camaro pics, unless you can find one built before '65.
nice score, fyi don't post o.t. modern stuff on here or poof you may get deleted. have fun, welcome to the tri-five club
Thanks for the comments guys! I'm excited about this one, more than any other build I've done. My Dad ran a '55 back in the '60s around Salt Lake called 'The Rumblebee'. He used to talk about his buddies Otto Torkelson and Dick Jaeger, and I found some pics on here of their old cars racing at the old, old Bonnevile track, cool stuff....
Nice platform to jump off of . 55's have always been my favorite of the tri-fives. Good luck and keep us posted with updated pics .
You're lucky you got the parts car too. Depends on how you go, but if you want a semi streetable machine you'll need seats and all the outside S/S and grille/bumper stuff-plus, plus, etc. I can tell you, this stuff is hard to find now and its expensive, even at swap meets. Took 31/2 yrs. for mine and I'm still looking to get some better stuff. cooger
A parts car is a big help....I had a pontiac hardtop parts car when I built my 55 chevy, made it a lot easier, because I was missing all the side glass parts and some other stuff. I was able to trade the remains of the parts car to a guy with a 55 chevy who had other parts I needed. Worked out well.
