I started this Model A pickup project when I was 13 with 500 bucks, when I found a rusty old model a ch***is and running gear, on fleabay me and my dad drove out to the end of long island picked it up brought it home, and began cleaning, tearing it down etc. together we went through the engine and trans and freshened things up.
In the mean time I scored a decent 1930 model a pickup cab from rocky mountain relics that I picked up in Hershey, and a new repop model a bed and tailgate from Stone32. Along with some other misc. parts to get my ch***is running and driving.
I originally planned to build my truck on the ch***is I previously mentioned but a Local gentlemen made me a sweet deal on an EXTREMELY CLEAN and almost pitt free model A rolling ch***is, that me and my dad both decided was a much better starting point but in order to make room for ch***is #2, ch***is #1 had to go. #1 served as a good learning experience and allowed me to put money towards other parts as well so I sold #1 and brought #2 home and another local made me a deal on a recently rebuilt model A motor that just needed to be detailed.. so I bought that motor and detailed it nicely and dropped it between the rails.
I should have it running and driving very soon all I have left to do is: rebuild the dizzy, get the radiator back from the radiator shop, wire it, get a battery, rig up a gas tank, and fire it, and tune it.... then I plan to mount the cab and bed and run it around for a month or so and then Ill yank the A motor and sell it to build the 52 8rt I got from MGW.
Plans for the motor include: full rebuild with, **** 4 1/8 crank, new **** rods, arias pistons, isky 400jr cam, aluminum heads, 3x2 intake, port and relieve, 1.6 valves, and headers with dumps. I then plan to mate that to a s10 t5 with an adapter from speedway and run that through a driveshaft to an open drive conversion banjo rearend. juice brakes all around with big and littles rubber rake, dropped axle, and reverse eye springs, MAYBE a small chop, and full fenders, full hood, with running boards and aprons, and a 32 grille shell. and 16 inch solids with hubcabs. I have all the sheetmetal except for some garnish moldings, rear fenders, running boards, and splash aprons. hopefully you all get the Idea, thoughts and opinions appreciated, also its gonna be a long build on a high school budget but I will make it work... Im glad to say my first car was a Model A

Cool, keep it up, wish I had that kind of guidance when I was your age. A nice stock driver is sounding pretty good right about now...

You made some wise choices and what you have done looks good in the pics. Plus, your light years ahead having your Dad involved. Priceless right? Tim

I know right now shes just a stocker but for right now Im just going to get her running and driving so that way I have a running driving project, eventually the rebuilt 4 banger and trans will get sold.... I may have a deal on a 1935 topshift 3 speed for my 8rt, right now if I get the 35 trans cheap enough I will put that in instead of a s10 t5.. tell me what you think... right now im in the process of picking up the trans as mentioned, an early ford front axle with juice brakes, and a VERY nice set of 16 inch solids with white wall radials which to me are yuck so those will be for sale once I pick up the wheels...
