Just started patching cowl.I bought it from junkyardjunky and it is the best cowl I ever had.Only 2 small rust holes at bottom.I have just fixed one side. Also welded up a few spots in structure behind patch.Never hurts to add a little strength.Other patch is fitted and ready to be welded in.Then on to rear fenders.Sold the maple I had for wood body.Going to use pine, thats right I said pine.Just had a load delivered from a local sawmill. My Last woodie was built of high dollar maple and was so perfect I just worried about it getting scratched. That was no fun.Sold body before car was finished.I am going low buck on this body and make it an all weather driver. We will see how the pine box woodie works out. Will post lots more pictures as it comes along.Money is tight so it will be a while before we go for a ride.P.S. also posted a picture of my last maple woodie body.I plan to build the same body again, just using pine this time.Feel free to laugh at me using pine I think it`s a riot too.
Getting wood body going.I chopped cowl 4 inches and converted it to use a drop in windshield rather than the frame.Just cut gl*** and stick it in groove with windshield tape or silicone, etc.I was slow getting going on the wood body because I got my brother (he is a master of fibergl***-30 years experience) to make a mold from my cowl.I decided to do this because 26-27 cowls are nearly impossible to find now.Next time I need one I will just pop one out.I know it will be exact copy because I made it off my original after chop.Anyway the wood body is coming along nicely .My goal with this woody is to make it look old.It will still be a top quality body, splined joints, epoxy glue, etc, etc,.I just want it to look old since I am using all original tin.thanks
Where did you get the plans or did you draw them up your self? I'm in the process of building a '27 RPU on "A" rails now but know I'll probably want something less drafty and with more seating later (3 grand youngins' and 4th on the way).Keep the updates coming.Looking good so far.
