Well after 6 years working on it off and on with it parked 6 hrs away at my moms, we finally got her driveable. This started as freshing up the engine, and do the brakes. It turned into new wiring harness, floor pans, complete suspension rebuild, trans rebuild etc. Thus the name the dirty brown bitch, which was named by my mom, after yet another setback. My brother and I laughed our butts off, when she called it that. It was my dads car since the mid 70s. I had no idea of the rusty floor pans or the general overall shape of the car . Since he drove it everywhere, and it was his daily driver til 2005. I have been working on it before he passed in 2012. Here is a few pics Sent from my SM-N920V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
She fought me all of the way to this point. Never have I had a car fight me like this. One step forward, twelve steps back... We have not even gotten to paint. My goal was to have it driveable for Kool April Nights last year, it is finally ready.
those have been a favorite of mine since they came out new but I've never been able to get my hands on one. Good to see that one with family history getting put back together.
Very cool! Reminds me of the one I got running for a friend last year. Had been parked since 67'. He pulled it out of a barn and brought it to me Dec 2015. Got it running and driving. We just completed our 2nd drive to Lone Star Round up with the original 348. It also came with the a continental kit (which I reworked and installed last month) and a 3 deuce setup that we plan to add this summer/fall. Love the fact that yours is a family affair. Keep it going. This was last week on the way to Austin. Totaled about 800 miles round trip
You have a very nice and beautiful old car, and a 58 Impala to boot! It looks fabulous. Keep up the great work.
Looking good. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for 58 Impalas. Had a black one once and wish I still had it. Gary
Fantastic car. Looks like you got your work cut out though. Maybe when you've finished the restoration you can rename from Dirty Brown Bitch -> to Brown Sugar
I Lov them 58 impalas and would trade my 57 for one in a heartbeat lol I think they are one of the coolest cars chevy ever built, nice job fixing it up ur pops would be proud of what u have accomplished, keep it rolling thanks for sharing, oh yes my older brother has one but he's not turning loose of that until he dies lol Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Hey C, In your photo, those hubcaps look like Olds Fiesta hubcaps. We tried those on our 58 black Impala. Then the Dodge Lancers, we even tried Moon Discs, but, then settled on small Chevy hubcaps on black rims. We took them off for the drags. You have done some great work on your car. Keep it up. I had many years of driving the daylights off of that car, while making many modifications and upgrades over those years. Jnaki I wonder where it is today... not too many 58 black Impalas with a real C&O stick hydro with all hubs and rear axles drilled for a Buick bolt pattern... Also, in the right rear fender, we had some lead work done to remove the antenna and a boo boo, small dent done by some giant army truck. (lead, not bondo)
Those hubcaps are Dodge polara caps. I really like them, I think it is something my dad would have ran.
