Well im 34 and in the military. When I have time I work on my 49 fleetline 4 door. So far I have taken the body from the frame and im working on the frame and suspension. I have manuals but instead of answering my questions they only create more. Hopefuly this group can help me with my questions.
Im replasing the 6 with a 350/350 combo with power disk breaks in the front and a 53 olds rearend.

Nice to meet you, how are you going to do the brake conversion up front? Have any idea yet? There's alot of options. You can get a whole kit from ECI or some place similar. Personally I like chopping stuff up. Since you are dropping a small block in anyway, I would consider raiding a junkyard and looking for an 2nd generation f-body (camaro, firebird) that looks straight up front. You could find a parts car, and pull parts off it, or even use the whole front sub. I have worked on a 51 and done this before. It was kind of sloppy, but it sat nice when it was done; and it cornered a little better also.

I would have to say that our minds are anything but alike. One thing for certain...we are all infected with this "car" thing.

The car thing has no name...no brand of car...or even type to say that we all belong. We are as varied a lot of guys as you will find anywhere...but totally single minded with our freeking love of this hobby.

So welcome, ask away...you will not find a greater bunch of fun loving gear heads anywhere. Sounds like you will fit in. Ron.
