The Blue Racer is now a TEXAN !,.... Going to a great new caretaker Eric, and the capable hands of his team at "ATLAS SPEED AND CUSTOM" Yes,...... I know they are an inanimate object,... Incapable of thought or emotion, A non living "thing". But in the world of Hot Rods, I beleive every person that cared enough to put there time, effort, vision and sweat into a Hot Rod / Race Car,.. Has left a little bit of themselves in it,... It becomes a part of you, and you care where it goes, and who get's it, And to a certain degree very protective of it... Like a rolling time capsule,.... Nobody after Frank Mack, Doane Spencer or Tom McMullen ever truly owned those iconic cars,... They will forever belong to those men,.... Man and machine both linked together for as long as history and society cares to remember it... All those that have the privilege to be caretaker of them after those men.. Enjoy them, but also appreciates there historical value and respects the original owner, and all those that preserved it before them... When the clock keeps ticking, and it's time for someone else to be the caretaker,... You always want it to go to the right home and right person,... Somebody you know that will also appreciate where it's been and what it's done,.... That will understand it's significance, And try to preserve it until sometime in the distant future,.. Once again it's time to find it a new home,.... Where it will also be honored. I was lucky to find that for the "# 424 B/SR Blue Racer",.. Not long ago I got a correspondence from a very pleasant fellow by the name of Eric,..... We talked about the Blue Racer,.... And as we talked, I could hear in his voice an excitement and enthusiasm about this old Champion,..... As we hammered out the details, I felt very comfortable and in fact pleased That Eric was going to be the next caretaker of Loren McCombes two time national champion,..... Knowing these "inanimate objects" that practically take on a life of there own while we take care of them,.... The separation is a lot easier, when you know they are going to a good home, where they will be cared for. Although it may sound strange, I owe a lot to the Blue Racer, In fact the first thread I ever posted on the HAMB was about the Blue Racer, Which lead me to a number of good friendships and becoming part of the "Brotherhood of the HAMB" That !,... in and of itself was a priceless gift..... I'm hoping to see the restoration process as it unfolds..... Thanks Eric,... I know you'll take care of the old girl...... She's in your hands now.
Glad to see it going to a good home. I've have pulled up the classified for the Blue racer at least a half dozen times and thought good and hard about the car. I just couldn't give up one of my drivers for a track only car. Anyways, It's in great hands now.
Wow! Thanks for that! We are super excited and honored to have the Blue Racer and are gathering parts and planning weekly, if not daily, to get it built over the coming winter and hopefully ready for the HAMB Drags next year! As soon as visible progress gets under way, I'll be sending you pics and updates! Eric
