I am looking for the little pieces that hold the trim on around the garnish moldings. I pulled them off to blast the paint. The previous owner didn’t want to mess with it. I do. That kinda ****s eats me up. Leaving the original finish under the trim is not my style. I know why he probably did though.
I misplaced a couple so I made some. The dash has the same trim but used different fasteners. I ground small flathead screws to fit which need to be slid in rather than push and turn like those. I used a dremel.
Yes, try them for sure. They had it all for my '59. Be aware that some of these clips have been sold out. Give them your car info and they should have all the clip part numbers on file.
That would be nice. One the dash the PO used a small spring clip. If I can find those I may go that way, if they aren't available.
I talked to Jeff over there. He had a list of everything for my car, so he probably has one for yours. Another place is Avueco Fasteners. Their online catalog is like 700 pages, happy hunting! The Restoration Specialties online catalog used to be tough to sift through. I may have a hard copy of one....
about a year and a half ago I went through the exact same scenario with my 55 Fairlane - your trim on the garnish is peculiar to the 55 Fairlane Sedans when it comes to those clips and being attached to the sheet metal garnish. There is a larger version of the same style clip that holds your plates for the headliner (just above the doors) and also your "J" dogleg brackets for your kickpanels. I had to get two guys who had parts cars to scrounge a few for me. Back then I did contact Restoration Specialties and they did not have them, but it's worth a shot to check since it has been awhile. I do not have any extra or I would send them to you, I know they are HARD to find. As a matter of fact, I ended up not having enough for both sides, so I went without one clip at an interval where I was convinced the trim was ok.
Thanks. So, not to be dumb but how were these designed to go in? Press in after installed in the trim or what?
if you think of the trim profile as a "C", the little horns on the fastener catch the ends of the "C" when you twist the fastener while pushing the trim against the sheet metal.
You need this article from my website my friend... https://www.hotrodreverend.com/post/2018/05/07/1955-ford-part-48-interior-panels-and-trim-part-1
I have used your website a lot in this build. I am stripping, painting, polishing etc. on the removable parts.
