Long time no post but I have finally finished the car and Ive been for the first drive with it complete, so I thought Id post some pics for you to gander at..
I only see one problem...you got the steering wheel on the wrong side!!!!!! Just kidding...looks good...nice stance/wheel tire combo. Brian
ahhh shit.. I thought it was bloody hard to steer and the pedals hard to use. I kinda have got used to all that reaching now though thanks for the compliment but I'm reckoning the wheel tyre combo is a little high in the back. I guess Ill just hafta do some tyre fryin and get some others.
Lookin good. Now if I can only get this selling the business, selling the house, shifting, buying a new house, building a new garage and finding a new job behind me I will be able to get mine finished.
What's finished mean? How's it feel? I've never been there! Looks cool to me. I've got an Aussie mate and he'd love that wheel on the 'wrong' side. I was wondering did you have to get a steering box and have it reversed or can you go to a bone yard and find stuff "already reversed"? If it comes already reversed then we should send you all our Corvair boxes and you can send us all yours!!!
curly... rodders in these parts generally select different bits for use in their cars... most of the american tin down here is still left hook, and we often use parts from local cars in the conversion to right hand drive. i doubt anyone down here would ever use corvair boxes, rodders down here usually use 60's holden parts, or the front of mitsubishi vans... (!) NZ... fat car mate... looks grouse...

[/ QUOTE ] It would be harder to find a left hand drive steering box down here. Everything is right hand drive (except for the American imports) so there is a large range to choose from. I personally used a VW Kombi box which is just a right hook version of what is popular in America. Most of the buckets built down here use a rack and pinion box
Really nice! By my taste in T's I'd say you hit the mark "right on". Just a couple questions like...what's the wheelbase? engine/trans combo?

Very nice. Simple and sweet like I think T-Buckets ought to be. They're a simple car and don't need much. The back tires look ok to me. Course, I'm a fan of big back tires so you need to keep that in mind. If I can catch the 'right' T-Bucket next months rod run I'll show you some pics of a more than interesting one. Woulda caught it last night - Saturday here then, Sunday now - but I thought it was Friday, so washed the roadster, ran it into the garage and came in the house. Coupla hours later, Sweetie asks me how come I didn't hit the regular 3rd Saturday night run at the A&W. Lost a day there somewhere. Now I got this all clean roadster and nowhere to go....
Looking good ! Hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out somewhere over summer. Curly, VW Kombi = VW Bus.
Are we ever really "finished" with our cars? I have yet to finish one. Good enough shape to sell, maybe. But I have never said "finished". If you can, then amen to you. Looks great by the way...
OK answers to all the questions Wheelbase - 99" centre of front wheel to centre of rear wheel Width - 61" centre of Front Left to centre of Front Right Engine - 350 Chev Trans - TH350 How long it took - I bought the car complete but a little rough back in November 2001, drove it till April 2002 and pulled it apart in 2 weeks to bare chassis and lots of baggies of nuts and bolts etc. spent next 2 weeks pottering around doing jack all, spent next 6 months doing jack diddly squat except a little painting of bits, then woke up from a winter slumber and spent next 4 months repainting and reassembling while having the body painted. assembled to a roadworthy stage and I drove it in its semi finished state, ie no screen, interior or chrome for 3 months then finally had the interior done a month ago, I finished having all the chrome work plated and I fitted it all to the car 2 weeks ago, then spent the last 2 weeks tidying up small bits I didnt like. I guess it is never finished but its now in the state I'm real proud of being seen riding round in it. As for the seatbelts, someone said they didnt like em. I agree they aint that nice but I can put them under the seat when I want to hide them.
