I dunno, all that work building the coolest VW on the planet and you paint it.......... BROWN?? Cmon dude, please do this thing the justice it deserves and paint it a nice colour, hell Id settle for matt black with red wheels!
I've been watching the build of this car on other sites and forums,.. I have to say the finished product came out killer!
Fuck Boyd uses chrome steelies?? Didnt know my car that was built in 65 and is almost the same now was a Boyd type car?? I better go find me some billet wheels so I can be traditional.
Thanks for all the compliments guys, It's cool to hear them from die hard domestic guys. Imwalkin, actualy the drool worked great as polish! Now onto the next project
That's a very nice car. Sometimes I wish my wife were a little more cutesy, I'd build her one of those. As it is, however, I suspect I'd end up driving it myself. -Dave
WOW. by far one of the nicest I have laid eyes on. I think the hotrod inspired modifications worked exceptionally well. The color only adds to the vintage look Is this the truck mentioned above.. (second one is fuzzy.. batteries were going dead). Seen it at the Seattle indoor show last feb
Just out of curiousity, how did you mount the Ford wires to the Volkswagen transaxle? Did you change the bolt pattern on one or the other or use adaptors? -Dave
Boones, Yes thats my Bro's truck. He owns Canada Custom and Hot Rods, Do a search on Ratstu. You should find a bunch of his other cars he's built. Were both into cars as you can see, for me mostly VW's but things are a changing. :-0 Bigcheese327, The rear I used blank drums and re drilled them to the Ford 5 on 5.5 then made up a wheel spacer/adapter to move the wheel out 1.25" as to make the front and rear track the same. The front suspension was adapted using a custom built beam/spring mount. You can buy these mounts but I wanted to change it up a little. Geoff.
I have to say that I in no way shape or form believe that this belongs here but holy Shit!!!! that is really nice . I wouldn't do that again though if I was you.!! congrats on the nice job .Drive it to death now. swaZZie
This is simply the most *KILLER* VDub I have ever seen! I looked at all of your build pics and I am most impressed with your metalworking skills and decisionmaking........this is just a great car, period! I want it! You have my respect! Brucie
Dang, I saw this on some VW sites. I LOOOVVVE it! There's always one asshole to come in after the whole thing is said and done and say, "well, I would have done this or that". Let me be that guy! ha. Seriously, EVERYTHING you've done is spot on, BUT, an alternate set of wheels and tires would be so cool, namely some old unobtanium 18" indy car Halibrands, all tarnished or maybe Dow 7 coated. DAMN, that would be cool too! The occasional VW thread won't hurt anyone on this board, in my opinion. I'm building a buggy and I think it's the perfect diversion when you're also building an old hot rod and need a break. That Volkswagen brown color is cool, does it have a touch of green in it?
I was just sent this link to the latest Rolls & Pleats from a friend. Big thanks to Jerry @ R&P for doing such a great job. I'm stoked! http://users.telenet.be/rollsandpleats/rnp_cont23.htm And what makes it even better is my Brothers truck is in the same issue, pics from Paso. Just had to share
one clean bug! what kind of hourse power are you getting? gas miliage? do you have any idea what it does a quarter in?
now that's what hot rodding is all about. making shit into shineola...very very nice thanks Cadillac dave
Did you make the Safari Style Windshield or did someone make it for you? Either way would you tell me how I can get one for my wife's 1974 VW Bug? I would truly appreciate your help in this matter!!!!!
