Finished Rat

Just cleaned up the rat and did a few short hops around town this weekend. I've got a few bugs to work out but I'm pretty happy for a 60 year old drivetrain. Those old flathead sixes sound like my mom's old Singer sewing machine. I'm just happy that I dont have to go to the car shows this year in my minivan!

 

where did the front end go?

 

It would have been easier to take the hood and fenders off the minivan.

Hey Falconvan, the next time you use the word "rat" around here, you better be talking about the 396 under your hood... And yes, I agree, put the fenders and hood back on it.

 

O.K. it runs and drives, that's cool. you built it from available parts, that cool. 54 GMC cab on a ch***is with a flat six I'm still with you here. flat black with red wheels still cool.
indian blanket seat cover way cool. yep I think you broke the cool barrier.

At least he's proud of it, and his "rod" runs and drives, whereas mine sits in pieces waiting to find more parts ... for my front end. Welcome to the HAMB.

It's part of an internet game. Come to the HAMB, post a RatRod topic. When you get flamed you run to your Rat Forum and ***** about the HAMB. Been going on for a couple weeks now. You really should check out their forums, it's almost all Hamb, all the time.

What ever happened too aesthetics and a eye for what looks right and what doesn't?Has Hot Rodding really come to this?A mish mash of parts that don't really fit together?

 

the hamb should have a 1 year limbo when you sign up....no posts for the first year...then more will understand that this is a traditional hotrod forum...hate to see a nice fellow get jumped on because he is proud of his acomplishments...no matter the style of his build....

 

Wow, glad I picked a bunch of guys who are so open minded. I've built some really nice, high dollar cars in my day and was just trying to put something together something cheap to cruise this summer without spending a ton of time/money. I'm sure you are all far more intelligent than I am, and I will not post anymore pics until I complete something that meets all of your standards. This is the first one of these I've put together but it didn't take long to figure out that the one thing the rat rodders have going for them is that they dont take pleasure in running another guys work into the ground to try and make themselves look better. But my mom taught me 40 years ago to pray for guys like you, so I will. Sorry to take up your valuble space.

 

Ok,,,you have a HOT ROD that is on the road a driveable,,,not everybodys style but if you are happy with the truck I'm happy for you!

The hamb members are very opinionated and thats cool ,,,they can also be harsh!

Just offering you some advice,,,,,omit the term rat rod when you make future post on the hamb,,,unless you have a thick hyde and like the abuse.HRP

Its the "ratrod" word that pisses everyone off Falconvan.This board isn't about building **** and calling it a ratrod,its about traditional hotrods and customs.This is a brutal board if you say the wrong things,but it is the most valuable board if you read more into what the board is about.Don't go away thinking we are a bunch of ***es, only a select few really are.Just maybe sit back and look at your project and ask if it really fits here.Your truck could have a lot of potential, but at this point it doesn't really flow to well.I appreciate you praying for me as I need more prayers than you'll ever know.

 

Look guys, I know this is not everybodys style and I prefer more finished rods myself; it was just something to do for fun. But you'd think I burned an American flag at a VFW convention! I'll stick to posting stuff on my 48 Plymouth (yes, it does have fenders), but I dont get why these are so offensive. As long as they've got good steering, brakes, and are relatively safe to drive they're a decent alternative for kids that dont have a lot of $$$ to build something nice. "That's the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever seen" is a little over top for grown men.
