so heres what I did for my oil issue. I did a bunch of googling, because I was stumped, and I put a thread up here. I was using a quart of oil in 80 miles, but I didnt see it rolling smoke, or a big leak. So I was stumped, so then I got reading about people buying used tall valve covers and running them without baffels. So enough jabbering and heres some pics.

I figured id make them on my lunch break, if I can do sheetmetal work on an air plane it shouldnt be anything to make a few bends in some aluminum and throw them in. I tapped the post that you see in the first pic. Then I drilled my holes, put some bends in them and lock tight'd the screws. They work, so its back to daily driver status.

well this is an up to date build. The next thing will be work on some wiring and start the search for either a g body or jag front clip. Maybe ill pull the cluster out and re do the gauges soonish though.

Go figure. Nothing like the little things most people don't run into to give you a case of the "WTF"'s. Good catch. I'm sure a few of us will keep this in mind.

Thanks for the info. Once I get mine back on the road I'll have to look them up.

Saw your jag post. On slick 60's site a guy in Texas (long haul, I know) has jag front & rear suspensions for sale.

I really like the contrast of the white paint and black soft surfaces on the interior.

    Nice build!

So the latest update is I wired in a cd player and put some good speakers in the dash and under the seat. My wife is still DD'n it so I figure id give her the comfort of playing some tunes.

I am working a deal with a guy back home for a Gbody front clip.....I think this thing will be in the weeds next year.

I also finnaly found some 8 inch wide steel wheels that match the front. So now its rocking some 255/60/15s out back with some 205/65/15s up front. It dropped it down another inch or so by doing that.

While I was home the big project was redoing the brakes. It got new drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders. All new rubber hoses and a new master.

The back right axle seal looked like it was leaking so we went in to replace it. What we found I did not like at all, along with alot of other stuff.

Starting off with the rear brakes, someone had some 68-72ish drums and backing plates, which isnt a bad thing because they are bigger. Well the shoes where not the big ones, so the drums where all kinds of messed up. Lucky for me I robbed the backing plates off a parts truck and put new brakes on out back. All of the adjuster hardware was missing too. But heres the worst part, someone replaced the right rear wheel bearing, and put a new seal in. But didnt remove the old one, so there where two axle seals in it, the axle was never seated into the center section all the way, and I put 18,000 miles on it this year. Drove from NC to FL, NC to PA, and back and forth to MD alot. I did some pretty good burnouts, a few stop light to stop light runs and luckly nothing came apart.

Will be following your build thread. I have a 66 CC also. All original except for the 65 grille. It's the 3rd one I've owned. My poncho will soon be on the road again and hopefully it will be next.

Damn, I've never seen two seals jammed in there before. Looks like someone had a major case of the Dumb ***. The fact that the bearing lasted that long gives meaning to "Built Ford Tough" and I'm glad you caught it before things got worse. Those 8 inch wheels look pretty good on there. Are you going to lower the truck any?

OahuEli- I cut a coil and a half out of the front and then had the beams bent. Im working a deal out now with a buddy of mine for a clip out of a monte carlo. Id like to do a G body clip, then put 2 inch drop spindles in it and see what it looks like. Then possibly go with a 1-2 inch drop spring. Out back it will get flipped, notched, and then possibly a block to even it out to the front.

So heres an update. Right before I headed out on the deployment im on right now I put a new intake gasket set in it. Well my wife said its still leaking.

So when I get back stateside in may im doing one of two things. Ill be finding a decently priced 390 and dropping that in, or re ringing and re bearing my spare 352. Ill freshn up the heads and then paint it up and re gasket it up really good. Hopefully it wont leak anymore. Look for updates in a few months guys!

So I think I found me a fresh 390 for when I get back from Afganistan. I cant wait to see the difference between a worn 352 and a fresh 390. I dont think the gas gauge is going to like me.

Sweet build dude. The truck is looking solid! Next time you drive it up to Boston, give me a shout. We'll go do burnouts in a parking lot somewhere. Stay safe in Afghanistan and thanks for your service.
