The Do-Dads' Offbeat Weekend was held this year over the Midsummer weekend. Such a cool way to selebrate the summer, especially if you're a hotrodder! I put my wife and the baby girl into a car and spent there one sunny day. So many cool cars this time! Enjoy. The get together at Tammisaari marketplace, nice old small town. Warre's recently updated Model A Tudor got now a sixties race look. Tatu Kouvo finished his A-Tudor just hours before he drove a few hundred miles to the event, pretty daring... Nice car! A former HAMB car from the States. Hamber AVG with his "tub". Funny! Kartsa's "Sledanette". Note the taxi station... --mika
Then to the Karjaa where the main event was located at. Nice place with a beautiful beach. One of the organizers from The Tomahawk Town cc, Esa Mikkonen's fresh 48-Cadillac. One of the most beautiful customs I've seen for a while. But this Buick was (again) my favourite one, damn I like this car! Proportions and everything are just perfect. From the upper camping area. This Tudor Sedan has came a long way and it still seems to transform every time I see it. Nice Merc without any body mods. My friend Rici's Flathead-equipped A-Coupe. --mika
Mighty nice rides you guys have over there;obviously the hobby is alive and doing well.A mate of mine in Finnland,Bjorn Hammarstrom always sends pics of the latest events and happenings. Good stuff!
And then to the lower area and by the beach. Bikes. Healthy British-bodied '32. Hamber Johnny Puuma's Linc with other Pistons cc cars. Jone Kaasinen's beatiful Model A PU. The Hersti Autoshop Pick-ups. Again, one of my favourites, imported last winter and now in flat black, www's and chopped top. Good work! Hamber Petu's freezing Linc. Cheers, --mika
that looks like a killer show with lots of variety. there seems to be more buicks in europe than in the u.s now.
Awesome Pix !! Thanks for posting them. I'm amazed at the variety of cars and trucks in Finland. I'll bet the participants don't spend all of their time criticizing each others rides either !!! Glenn
Thanks for the comments. Yes it was fun. Now I only need to get my own car done for the next summer! --mika
Looks like an excellent place for a show. I especially like that patina'd green Buick, very nice overall, and the chop looks perfect.
Beautiful setting for a get together and excellent cars....thanks for posting....does the guy with the "the Tub" get hassled by the "local authorities"....... Very cool
Great photos Mika. Every time I see a thread on anything scandinavian, it always rules. Some beautiful cars out there for sure. Glad to see you're bringing your daughter up right, and taking her to car shows from an early start. She won't have a choice but to be into hot-rodding when she gets a bit older. Any more pictures of the tri-toned Hudson Brougham?
Thanks for the photos and video. Great to see so many nice cars over there! I'm an American born Fin and hot rodder living in the San Francisco area. I would love see the event in person.
Denise & Hotrd32: Thanks for the comments! 58Lincoln: I spent the new year's eve '06 and two more days in SF, it's a beautiful town. Keith, here's two more. Unfortunately I don't know anything about it but it sure was low! Ella was quite funny, she knew there was something unusual going on, and didn't even cry when the Harleys were fired up. --mika
Mika, Thanks for the pictures Man, I reckon that you Scandiavians' rule great taste in Hot Rods and Customs, Thanks again. Nick.
Thanks for sharing Mika, great pics and cars ! You "Fins" sure know how to chop them roofs !!! Anymore pics of the two chopped and low at the town square, one greenish Buick and one red oxide...Pontiac is it ? The black '41 FORD is another of my favs. / primerkid
Interesting. Not chopped, but for some reason, the back window was changed. Cool rig. I dig the 3-tone paint. We miss you out here Mika.
