fired the 315 hemi in my topo last nite!!took the other carb and swapped it for a better one, guy was cool about it...also re-installed the flywheel after the machine work, and wc T-5...cleaned the points and thru in a new condensor....fired right up.......was like it had just been parked yesterday....48 psi on the oil gauge at about 700 rpm's, if it was that high...let it idle a minute or 2, just enough to warm the heads in front... i've watched a ton of vids, utube ect, on guys starting or hearing older hemi's running..they sure have a distinct sound of their own...bit loud coming off the manifold with only 3" of pipe....looking around to for a rad to set in front of it so it can get some idle time... all in all very smooth sounding, right before shut down i brought it up to about 1000 rpm..still smooth....went back about 1 1/2 hours later and hit it again,,fired right up again...hey i couldn't resist...now i need to figure out what to do for headers...no room for zoomie's, right side is back a tad more dur to engine cylinder off set...so yeah, i'm open for suggestions....
no. i thought about it but idon't have a video camera.... yeah i thought it was cool too...had me worried for a second, till it run a second or so... and i wish it was fresh, but it's a 1956 that was very nicely stored for a good few years...nothing fresh about it cept the gas and oil..a few gaskets...was bought as a runner, figured i'ld play around with it while i was finishing the topo itself . and rebuild it later.... its a week and a half shy of a year since i got it....and i have finally gathered up enough peices to be really close to start the welding...rear kick, rear suspension body mounting ect.... but i did have it mocked up full body and tires to look like ya could get in and lay a patch when i started it...
