I sincerely hope every one affected by the bushfires ravaging Australia at present are staying safe, and of course the California wildfires. We had two deaths locally and there is no end in sight. For goodness sake stay safe guys. Lexcoe
Fires are not a worry for me as yet although I will be working on my fire unit today as we expect to have a bad Summer.
Where I live, a huge wildfire might be a few hundred acres, we never get strong sustained winds and it is just too green for a fire to get going. Up here in Wisconsin, we are having January weather. A high temp of 17F, (should be in the 40s now) that's too cold for anything to catch fire.
in the New England area where I live we are facing the nations worst ever drought and catastrophic conditions for bushfires, high winds and very low humidity. And now the very worst lowlifes, arsonists and looters are coming to light as well. Words just escape me. Most of the huge state of New South Wales has fires as well as Queensland, its unprecedented .
Simon, I don't know what the penalties are for arson, but ill bet they obviously they aren't enough to deter the F,ing s***
Having investigated fires in my past I know they are sick and need help. I even burnt a pile of rubbish yesterday to clean up before our fire restrictions and in doing that it was hard to thing to do knowing in other states now that would be dangerous. We are still having some damp weather here but a week of warm dry weather many things will burn. How do you jail a 9 year old or explain what he is doing is wrong? Loss of life etc. should make it a jailable offence.
I don't know what the answer is, all I can say is maybe the parents of a 9 year old ought to know where they are and what they are doing..........
Oh so true. What is going on for the Parents to let a child get out and become an arsonist. I have been busy working on my own fire unit again today. The above trailer used to be the back of this truck. I still have plenty to tidy up and it need points as well as an oil change. I have it running so that is the main point at this time.
The truck had 16000 miles on it when I got it back in the early 90's and has had a couple of rebuilds. Last recently was a new coat of paint. The fire unit has been out in the open and not under cover so it requires some work but it is running and working.
LOL.... Sadly many of the fires in NSW and QLD we here are arson. Fire restrictions come into place here on Monday.
