To see other cars always get a impression, as yesterday I went to a hot rod meet just see a radical chopped 32 5W I heard was there.
I thought it was 4” but it was 5/5.5” and leaned back front window.
Brutal chopp yes but it was cool, it gave the car attitude but maybe to much my way see it.
It had the Rolling Bones idea of frontend and no fuel tank.
I has went over that before as big influence of 3W Larrys black coupe.
I was very close get a 34 at the same style ( see picture but I had bought my frame and it was a Cadillac engine in the 34 but we had a kind of deal to trade in my stuff but it was sold to Germany and then I had came over my 5W body aswell so timing was not best ( he did not like trade in a 32 coupe )
I has not like the 5W less std fuel tank but I do think it is great on 32 3W or 33/34 3W.
The Rolling Bones ide in front is slim but pitch in frame, no horn, well I’m more in the tradition style.

This coupe had a Ford 9” and coil overs and owner said great driver but in my mind I saw a 32 axle and chromed T-Ford spring…
Anway what call upp my attention was the rejk and car had attitude.
Most cars, and it was allot of 32, 34, roadsters and coupes and hotted up A-Fords etc but had not the height back ( as I personally like )
This car had the rear axle tube agains the frame at rear ( but C cuts ) so it was not ( high as a classic hi-boy )
I start wonder what cause the cool ’rejk’ and I was there for a long time just enjoy the car then the owner came and we start talking.
I seen ex Stedyfast use 18” rear ( ex on new Halibrands ) and the ribbed dirt tires but I feel it’s to big ( or tire design ) to body on a 5W.
Those cars get low as 5” drop axles and monoleaf spring so they had rejk.
Then I said ; you really set the attitude so then he said its the rear tires, he showed me it was 18”.
-I was shore it was 16” and the Firestone 7.50’s.
But it was Firestone 18” by 7.00 and they showed over 1” taller height.
    32.5” from 31”.
I said Henry never made steel 18” but he said Steadyfast made them new.
This gave the rearend the height.
I seen and look over Halibrand Solids 18” and the so call ’milktruck’ ( high clearance ) but always had in mind the ribbed tires on them ( to much dirt feelings to me )
Now I realised Firestone has ( Coker ) the 18 by 7.00 ( dont know history back then )
-So this was a new idea for me.

Other than Bonneville since the beginning, use of 18” wheels on hot rods is a recent trend.

Yes I guess so and I would not use repro wheels on my coupe or the milktruck’s but lets say someone found a used Indy set… :- ))
They was light and good for the drags.
I know of two 18 by 6 in Los Angeles to bad 6 lugs ( and…expensive.

I believe we have @CTaulbert to thank for the organisation of the remanufacture of the 7.00 x 18 'stones. I'm happy, new wheels or not!
