My first car, the '39 Deluxe in my avatar, was known as Tar Baby long before I bought it. Everyone far and wide knew the car by it's name. Then I had a custom '56 Chevy that was named Miss Carriage when it was first built and ran the show circuit. A previous owner's dad was the town judge and had to use the car one day. He removed the name from the quarter panel with an SOS pad but you could still tell what it said. I can't remember having a named car after 1966. Tom
My 58 F100, rolled the pans and painted it Plum Crazy Purple, and striped it while I was in the Air Force. She was "Statutory Grape". Mom hated that name.
68 Chevelle primer grey, I painted Pig Chaser across the decklid..........I was pulled over several times because of it..I remember the cops first words everytime''Son what does that exactly mean?,I am waiting!!''..Its the car I eventually made mid engine during High School....Pulled the engine and trans and sold them and had the car crushed, the only thing I kept was the ignition switch and key.......its the same switch and key I put in DeathsDoorStep...So Pig Chaser lives on in a real small way....Littleman
My buddy had one called "Passion Pit" We went cruzin by the High School and everyone laughed at us.?? It was on the car as "Pashion Pit" Dumb kids.
i have had the mean green the hooptie silver bullet all o/t piles of shit. The only reason they were ever named is because they were normally broken. Especially the mean green 84 cutlass ciera back in high school
Friend drove a clapped out old Rambler.allways leaving him on the roadside. The most approprate name was the "Gambler"
I have a '31 Highboy Coupe we call Rodney My '40 pickup is Mac, and my '34 pickup is Rusty. (all Fords)
my 1st chevy II wagon was called "nice and easy" ....it was painted on the tailgate when i bought it.... my 63 valiant with puff blue paint and 9800 miles ( ex-granny ride) was called "little miss dangerous"......my last named car was called "pretty penny" for numerous reasons..... there were others ....but those stand out in my head..... brandon
My first car was a POS 10 year old Volvo my folks bought for me & she was called Inga (a good Swedish name) by my friends. My first HAMB passable was a pearl white 58 Impala named The Beluga .
The postal jeep I was so blessed to have as my first driver was, (I may be making this up in hindsight) "The death trap". (or "The Jeep" I'm not sure.) Then my friends named my 'real' first car "Boog-a-mooh-shoo",("Boogey" for short.) My favorite, tho, was "Das Boote" for dad's '76 Buick Estate wagon and "Queen Mary II" for the same model car I used on deliveries. That car got gallons per mile (of motor oil.) Every car that's gotten a name's, apart from dad's buick, also gotten totalled out by someone else so my current car goes by an unofficial alias, "Ruby" (A.K.A. Rock-n-Roll Ruby) A fitting name for a beak faced Pontiac that likes to both Rock and roll, I think.
First car was a 65 Mustang I got from my sister in 74 after the engine blew. Put in a junkyard 289 and I was in business. One of my buddies tagged it "Marvel the Mustang". If you're old enough you'll get it. Kurt O.
My first love was a '65 Olds 442. She was named The White Knight. In black pinstripe lettering on the rear quarter. I was a cocky bastard back then. Still am. Glenn
answering without reading the whole thread, i'm sure someone had the same name. sonofabitch my current cars names are in my sig
as a 19 year old in the early 80's I had a 64 Dodge Polara 383-4 speed that was named after the AC DC tune "Night Prowler" which was painted across the back of the trunk lid...
my first car was a hand-me-down from my parents. 1982 vw rabbit. pops always called it mabel when he really needed her to get him home. by the time I got it all I called it was you filthy rotten piece of german crap! my second car got a nickname though. it was an 87 cavelier that was affectionatley known as guano. because in all respects it resembled bat shit.
My first cars names weren't as colorful, as I typically referred to my RPU as 'the baby' or 'the A' and my '41 Fordor Superdeluxe Coupe as 'the 41.' However, up until recently, I drove an '89 Chevy ex-cab long bed who I called "Fred." Anyone who remembers the nicknames of the old C5 Galaxy Air Force transports will understand the comparison. The C5 was/is the perfect aircraft when it comes to loading - it'll bend and kneel as well as take it from both ends! So, I figured Fred was the perfect name for that big ole' Chevy truck. Now I've got an '03 Dodge 4 door longbed 3/4 ton... and I'm still trying to come up with a good name for it. It just hasn't completely established itself as having a unique personality.
My brother-in-law's family used to have a two-tone 1972 Chevy Cheyenne p/u. It was orange and white, so they used to call it Bevo, like the UT mascot. Tony
Mine was a 1950 Chevy 2 door sedan "We named it Half-Breed" because my buddy crashed it so his Dad made him pull the front clip off his '51 BelAir and I put it on my '50.
I have owned alot of cars only a couple have names. But my friend George had a green on green early 70s Chrysler with a bullett hole in the windshield. He said it was the same car used in the TV show "HUNTER" you know the police, detective show or what ever. So we called the car "HUNTER" . Until another friend said " no George with you drivin the car it is CUNTER ". ha, ha so from that day on it was CUNTER.
I had a 67 Cougar daily driver and it developed a charging problem, I replaced most all of the charging system,..... but it still gave me troubles,... I named it "TRAMP",.. cause it had been jumped by just about every other car in town.
