Hot Rods First Drive in the Hot Rod - with videos

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tudor, Aug 3, 2008.

  1. Well I got the 32 out and drove it for the first time this Saturday. Dog_patch and LAYDRAG came over Friday night and helped me bleed the brakes and I finished up going over the chassis bolts on Saturday.

Hog Mtn Dave came over and followed me over to a new neighborhood they paved so I could try out the brakes and handling. I snapped a few pictures of it outside for the first time and did another lap in the little neighborhood. Then we headed out for a 8 or 9 mile loop. It drove great and gave no problems.

I took it to the swap today and it ran good. I think my Radiator has a small hole in it on the top tank. BOONES - Didn't the same thing happen to yours? We bought radiators from the same guy.

Anyway - I am super jazzed to get it out for a ride. I think I got the frame in 2003? I'll have to look back and see.

She runs good. :) I think you and DW will leave me in the dust right now. The rev limiter was on 5K so I need to bump that up for sure. I kept getting into that right when it was getting good.

That little cam will have a short life span

Its a crappy video - I will need to make a camera mount. I think Dog_Patch will post a better video later from the passenger seat.

I watched the videos and it runs pretty good for a '32. The first voyage is always the best feeling. Congratulations man

  12. Thanks you guys. Much better videos Tony - Thanks.

Here are some pictures from when my dad brought the body up. They were taken 12/24/05. So it took me 2 years and 8 months to get the body on and everything rigged up.

  25. Is there ever enough? It feels pretty strong. It isn't crazy strong though. The 3.80 gear may be not be enough with the tall tires. I may consider going to a 4 something. It shifted and drove nice though (we can fix that!). I guess I got lucky and my tires don't need speed balancing!

Way cool Josh! I can't believe how fast you got that thing put together. Love that paint. Copper fade to primer. Could be a new trend! Looking foward to seeing it. -Mike
