Thanks, it's getting there. Definitely the oldest thing I've worked on before.

Got the floor cut out and put in. Definitely not perfect but it'll work! It's amazing how much smaller this thing looks with the floor filled in.

And I know the grains are going a different way, it's what I had to work with.

I am doing one much like that, nothing newer than 1960. Either a phaeton T body or what was called a "coupster" back in the day. Are you keeping the wire wheels on it?

Rustoleum in a quart can. I wire brushed off the flaky stuff but it went over the surface rust. This is just to protect the metal that's there until I slowly fix the body.

I'm running some steelies. If I had a good set of wires, I'd probably run them.

For a guy who says he's not 'familiar' with 'old stuff' (mainly, 'Fords'!) Well, if Charlie Chan was looking to trap a hot rod mechanic...and he had everybody together in a room...You'd be caught, Inked Hot Rod.
You work on this stuff like an 'old salt', using and making parts and tools.
    BRAVO!
You could work on 'T'-rods with me any time.

Where there's a will, there's a way @Atwater Mike . Trying to stick with how it would have been done back in the day. It helps that I'm broke.

Made a little more progress. I'm a big guy so I'm going to run cowl steering to free up some room. Following this thread https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/cowl-steering-first-time.996254/, I knew what to look for. I now believe that I can find anything in the in-laws shelter belt because after looking for a bit, I found this.

    20170415_150616.jpg
It's the front section of frame from a 70's Ford truck buried in the ground. What are the chances that it has the manual steering box I need?

    20170415_150636.jpg

    It did...

I also grabbed an old bomber oxygen tank that I plan on using for the fuel and some ancient wagon steps.

Threw the tank in the bed and I dig it.

    20170417_152620.jpg

Took the steering box apart, cleaned it and reversed it.

Yep, all cleaned up, chamfered and painted. Assembled with a little lube in between the leaves.

I haven't updated in awhile, but I've been making slow progress. This frame had the left frame horn cut off to make it a trailer at some point.

So found an original and grafted it on.

Which allowed me to mount the headlights. Cut up and bent the brackets. Also took an inch out of an A shell so that it flows with the cowl better.

Payed a little attention to the motor. It had 8 stuck valves but only 4 needed replaced. All 8 got new valve guides.

    thumbnail (4).jpg

Dropped the pan and the bottom end is super clean.

    thumbnail (7).jpg

Cleaned out the pan and slapped it back together.

Scored an f1 crossmember, pedal assembly and shock mounts from a friend.

    thumbnail (15).jpg

Had to move the pedals over a hole to make them fit.

    thumbnail (12).jpg

The f1 frame is a lot girthier than the A

    thumbnail (13).jpg

    So cut weld repeat

    thumbnail (11).jpg

    thumbnail (10).jpg

And in this one you can see the material I added for the top bolt hole on the pedals.

    thumbnail (8).jpg

All finished and ready to bolt in.

Time to clearance the firewall for the fuel pump. Looked around the garage for what I could use and found this.

    thumbnail (21).jpg

    Cut it in half

    thumbnail (22).jpg

    Welded them together

    thumbnail (20).jpg

Cut the hole in the firewall

    thumbnail (35).jpg

    Trimmed to fit

    thumbnail (24).jpg

    And welded in

    thumbnail (34).jpg

Just enough room to get the cap off

Made a lot more progress so these will be out of order. 57 carriage bolts holding in the wood and a buddy welded the filler and bungs on the stainless tank.

    20180203_223933.jpg

I needed a new back panel for the cab and in the spirit of the build (or lack of funds) I found something that would work. Whippet meet Model T. I torched and bent some 5/8 rod for support in the back panel and to make it flow into the quarters. I'll probably make a body piece that will cover the last of the rod that can be seen.

Here's the frame work for the steering box. Still going to add some cross braces.

    20180104_225021.jpg

And I cut down a closed car dash to fit.

    20180107_161427.jpg

Made about the smallest steering column I've ever seen.

    20180119_150821.jpg

Installed with a bracket to keep it sturdy.

    20180126_204346.jpg

And pretty much where I'm at now.
