I'm in SoCal. Been working on my '57 Chevy 150 two door wagon for 10 years now. I bought the car from a friend in IL, drove it home and within a month I started what was to be a frame off restro. Wrong....After I cut the rust out of the floor pan, all I had left was two rocker panels, half of a firewall and a brace accross the tail gate. To but the floor pan replacement pieces 10 years ago, would have cost over 2G and 10 sections not to mention all the cross braces. Try and weld that together in your home garage and make everything perfectly straight and flat. NOT... I went to plan B. Whatever that was going to be.. Thought about it and did some homework. Seems the wheelbase and trackwidth of a 1989 BMW 750iL is within 1 inch all around of my wagon. Piece of cake. All I have to do is get the BMW and cut off the body. Found one in a boneyard in Simi Valley. Talked the owner of the yard into giving it to me free. Its been a long slow process, but it is coming together. The body is completely welded to the chassis. It has 4 wheels independent suspension, self leveling rear suspension, disc brakes all around, servotronic power steering, front-n-rear struts, bmw rear end. I'm running a sbc 350 w/TH350 trans coupled to the bmw rear end via a modified 2 piece bmw driveshaft. I'll throw a couple of work in process pics.
Welcome to the insanity. We've been wondering when you'd show up. Nice wagon. Well worth the effort. How about a bit more in your bio? Airborne, eh?
