This is a bit of a milestone...I have a "roller" !! I am using ASC rails, Model A front/rear cross members, 4 inch drop "heavy" '32 C.E. axle up front, hung in '48 Ford 'bones. Early 60's Ford Truck nine inch rear axle, centered pumkin. I was going to hang this one on '36 radious rods, but with a 425 Nailhead and a 4 speed, I like it to be bullet-proof, so I opted for ladder bars instead: The model A rear spring seems a bit "soft", it sits too low in the rear. It is actually propped up about and inch and a half in the pictures. I guess I have to re-arc it? The car should drop about four inches in the front, with motor and a few leafs removed. I am thinking the radiator shell needs to drop about two inches... The goal today was to locate the body position on the frame, based on the rear tires...This looks good. Firestone 7:50 in rear, 6:00 in the front Next: "channel" the front cowl, to loose the A on 32 rail gap syndrome...then, motor... This is fun!
Rolf, Lookin real good man!! The fit of the rear wheel/tire is perfect!!! Keep up the good work. And post them pics, i wanna se this one come together! Rat...
looks like youve got alot of work done..................and alot ahead of you!! Good Luck...........................Briggs
Nice job, clean work, that's a real satisfying stage to get to. IMHO I'd get your engine and radiator in and your grille shell dropped before you go back to messing with the stance. You may find out you like what you got
Hay Hatch ,you forgot to settle the front end with the weight of the engine. BTW that engine looks real familiar
fab32: Yes, I will wack the lid later, once the rear floor is built and the body square on the frame. Rainer: Yes, I will X the frame as well, when I know what to do with the pedals, as well as a cross member for the trans mount. Bluegrass: Color? Who knows, I would be happy with primer (not black) the first summer... fordiac: It looked like a bomb went off a few hours earlier from all the grinding and fabbing. I used a leaf blower to clean up the shop! It will be a mess again, as I continue. dondanno: I don't know, maybe I have a roadster rear spring? I will blow it apart again obviously, and I will check. Detonator: Yes, I certainly will. The engine weight will do it's part, nailhead are quite heavy. I don't mind the car sitting kinda tall, but I think I do want a rake to it... Hatch: Great work, now take that 350 out of my car !! modern: They are 16X4. I was concerned that it would make the 7:50 rears "bulge", but I think it looks fine.
Rolf- Nice work man,,the car looks great! We have alot in common,,Mine is very similar except I have a torsion bar front suspension...its hidden in the front rails. Pretty trick..I hope to post a couple pics when I get a little more closer to mock it up like yours....I cant wait to see it complete.....Wheres the 58? ..Dirty
Rolf, Hotrod looks real good. Nice chattin' with ya this weekend. You do some nice work my friend! Thanks for all you do for me.
Dirty: Yes, post pix...I like to see how your torsion suspension works. One reason to post here is now the whole world have seen where I am at, so now I have to keep pushing the project along ! Oh, the '58 is with me, it's my driver. That car is not going anywhere as long as I can help.
sweet...the tire looks really nice along that body line...say where did you get the body..your shop is sooo clean..nice looking ride, but please, please, put a nice mill in it..something unique...
Looks great, Have you thought about trying some '32 cowl patch panels to angle your body line into the '32 frame? I have a couple lying around you could play with before you do any cutting. Who licks your floor?
Looks great! How much you plan on wacking out of the top? C'mon, tell me at least five inches It'll be really nice w/ a nailhead. Any thoughts on Z'in the rear a few inches?
