Tonight is the first night out for my 50 Ford, after starting this project 18 years ago. Tonight, @ Wendy's Cruise-inn, Im happy to get to show it off. Tomorrow, wife and I will cruise to Branson Mo. for the ride and Dinner. Dont worry ,I own a wrecker service, lol Next week end, a Drive Inn theater show,@ Marshall AR.
Sounds like you are finally getting to enjoy things after the long haul, The drive in sounds fun! Wish we still had a drive in theater for those warm summer nights. Congrats on seeing the project thru! moe .
WOW! 18 years ago. I can almost remember the things I could almost do at a drive in movie. Good luck with that
18 years! Thats a build, mine feels like 18, but its only been 5 so far... Glad you kept with it, so easy to loose heart and get side tracked. Be good to see some pics of the finished ride..
I have not been working on it for 18 years, but I did start on it 18 years ago. It got put aside several times. 75% of the build got done in the last year and three months. I will get some pics tonight, I dont have 18 years left.
OK , as promised, some pics at a very small cruise inn, Guess it was to hot for some. This first pic is 13 year old Brennan and his Z, it's good to see the young generation get into the cool cars.
Congratulations, Dr. Very nice! Looks tuff and slinky at the same time. Love the color. BTW...you showed us good full pics of all the other cars at the cruise-in, but little of yours. It's a beautiful custom, and you should be proud. Lets see some more of it.
Cool car. Good thing you didn't wait any longer. I had a '62 Corvette stored for 10 years after driving it for 4 years. When I got it going again I drove the wheels off.
Driving the wheels off has been my plan, if I find another wrecker driver,I will re-retire and do just that. I gotta say, I sure like driving the shoe-box. I still have several small things to do to it.
Wow, very cool-so, tell us more about the '50-what is the color/brand of paint. what is grill from,? etc-Thanks
The grill is original, I removed the center bullet and bridged a piece from side to side. I took the center hump from the top grill-bar and pieced it in with a straight piece. The lower splash pan is original with a role type of pan welded to it, looks kinda like a facia bumper. I feel like that will meet up with a curb or something sooner or later. I have the original chrome bumper re-chromed and ready to install when that does happen. The paint is PpG, one coat of clear sealer, four coats of color, three coats of clear. I have the paint number and will post it tomorrow, darn , I think its from a 2010 chev. truck, called cherry red pearl. lots of pearl! I will post the proper paint # and vehical brand for sure tomorrow.
I have skirts for it, I dont want to install them right now(fresh paint and all) opinions> skirts or no skirts If I do run them it wont be till next Spring.
I bet it feels good to drive after so long... I hope mine doesn't take as long. I think a little side chrome would do it some good.
I agree on the side chrome, Im thinking full leingth side pipes. lol, wonder how it would look with crestliner theme on the sides?
