Yesterday we made the return trip from Ocean City, MD “Endless Summer Cruise” with the 1948 Plymouth. It was the first actual “road trip” for the car, and it performed great the entire trip of 503 miles. It’s a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4-door sedan (Yeah, I know some here wouldn’t approve, but that‘s OK), with a 355 SBC, TH350, and 69 Roadrunner 3.55 rear. I was kinda nervous about that first long trip. Plenty of tools, spare parts, extra fluids stowed in the trunk in the event we had a problem. Watching the gauges, listening for strange noises or smells, etc. Well, the car ran great, with more power and speed than I ever needed to use. Eventually my confidence in the car grew, and I started to actually enjoy the trip. We observed a few incredibly stupid drivers doing incredibly stupid things during the trip, but I guess that’s common anymore. The trip took us on the PA turnpike, I-95, and I-80 with a 65 MPH limit. The car had no problem whatsoever keeping up with traffic, and could run much, much faster than I’ll ever drive it, but I preferred the roads with speeds a bit lower (I guess I’m admitting that I’m getting old !!!). Anyway, it was a good trip, with lots of good food, mostly good weather (except for Sunday), and lots of beautiful vehicles to look at.

I've tried to upload pics, but it seems like the pic file is too large, and I get a message that the upload failed. I'll keep trying.
