I have a 1939 Chevy COE. I looks rusty , but it is just surface rust. I plan on sitting the cab on a 1973 Chevy dually shortbed frame with a 40's style bed.

DEZEL INGEN thanks for posting up! Id sure like to see how you mounted that diesel in there... I want to rip out the pontiac 400 and do the same thing. Maybe start a build thread so we can keep an eye on the progress? Thanks again M.T.

Hi, I have two COE projects in my garage. One is a 1950 wide fender GMC COE mounted on a 1972 k10 4x4 frame with a 350 v8 engine 350 auto and transfer case and 14 bolt rear end. Objective was to make it look like an a COE 4x4 pickup if one had existed. I used two original 1950's beds to make a 10 foot bed. This one is a runner but waiting for it's twin to be done so it can be painted at the same time

Then other is a 1953 GMC 5 window mounted on a 1990 c3500 1 ton dually frame with a built up 454 big block and 4l80e ****** mounted behind the cab. This will also be a pickup bed truck also with a shallow floor to accomidate the suspension and engine and give it the low rider look. The frame will be stretched 10 inches to accomidate the big block and a 15 inch drive line. Originally it had a small block and the cab fit with out the stretch but hey, I have always wanted to create and outrageous looking truck and the big block fits that description.

  11. What's up all: You can call me "OLDSCHOOL"
First off, WOW! I just registered to H.A.M.B. & it didn't take me long to find this group. I hope this is the place I can find some hints on how to go about re-doing my 39 Chevy COE 108 wheel base tow truck. I purchased it & got it home last Dec. & just kinda put in on the back burner for a while. But I have dreamed of building one for years now & came across this one on eBay last year & jumped on it. I only plan on using the sheet metal. I think I want an Isuzu Chaise & running gear, but I haven't thought any thing through enough to decide what is the best running gear for the cab & tow box to sit on? Any help or opinions what the best way to go is???

My dream includes cruising it low & slow, with the old school look. But ready to hit the open road & keep up with the Joneses. Like around 80 MPH or so, with cruse & AC... I haven't figured out how to insert a photo yet, or I would show a photo or two of my rust bucked I call my stubbed toe???

    I love my 39 Chevy's

I also drive a 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe two door sedan. It's low & slow with all of the accessories I can find. Original looking but sporting a 261 Chev straight six. These motors are called "The Blue Flame", out of a 1954 Corvette, it looks stock, but quicker...

So if any one has any thing they want to share, lets conversat???
    (I think that's a word)

  15. My truck is a 1965 White 3000 & a 1946 Trailmobile trailer I built into our home that we live and travel the USA. the truck is original except for the engine & trans. I repowered it with a 1991 ***mins 8.3c & an Allison 4-speed auto. Our home base is central MI but we like to be on the road. Bob

New to HAMB and to the COE thing. I have wanted a Ford COE of any flavor since I was in the first grade. My Great Uncle George was a trucker from the thirties and he had kept a few of his old trucks. The ones I remember the most were a chain drive Mack and a Ford COE. My Dad told me it was a '48 and that is what I finally got. I hope to get it to my friends house this weekend. I would love to have it at my house but you can't have an inoperable vehicle stored outside for more than thirty days inside the city limits or you can get ticketed. The darn thing won't fit in my garage. I hope to put it on an '83 F-250 4x4 frame.

How do you post pics in a discussion.

Welcome to the group! Might have to call it lawn art or something creative to get around the city fathers. They tend to be a grumpy bunch dont they!

Well here's mine. You've likely seen it before as I bought it from Seon on this site. Had a mishap on the way home and now is in reconstruction phase. Planning on making it a 4x4 but keep it as low as I can in the process. Then possibly upgrade the 6.9 to a 7.3 turbo that I have in my 95 F350, we'll see.

Also have a 54 parts COE that is up for sale. ahem, missing p***enger door.

Nobody was in the truck when it rolled. It was being hauled by a shipper who did not secure it roperly and it rolled off his trailer. Won't be using that guy again. If it doesn't break any rules I will happily post up the company/owner's name as a warning to other members.
