Fourteen years ago I flew to Saskatchewan and bought a couple Mercury M3 pickups. Well Friday it was taken out of the shop with 38 kilometers on the odometer and a trip over the exciting Hope-Princeton highway was completed. By the time we got home Sunday we had 650 Kilometers on the 274 inch Merc flat motor. Isky ground the cam for me, Edelbrock manifold, Wilson – Woods heads, Fenton headers all worked. The Tremec 5-speed allowed easy cruising on the Freeway at 75 MPH. I doubt few of you have traveled that road and but if you knew about going down to the bottom of Whipsaw Creek and then back up to Friday Summit you might get the idea of the adventure in a fresh Flathead. Half thrilled / Half Fear. DSCN0356.JPG The vintage Trico vacuum fan had a workout. Four Wheel disc brakes made many corners manageable.

The interior features the removal of the ashtray, widened the glove box, 1949 speedometer with Shiftoguide graphics added and placed in the center, Mercury hood chrome added, power windows, vent glass removed.

There is much more to the story, that I can share later if you want to hear about the build.

well I for one want to read the rest of the story. Neat truck great pictures Tom

  4. Awesome truck, I like that you left the grain chutes in the bed.
What is that seat from, if I may ask?

  5. Ditto here on both counts; that trip was quite the "acid test" for a break-in run.
Love the tasteful interior and color; o.e. Meadow Green?

Seat is the stock seat, I think they also used in school buses. Grain chute in the box and tailgate were farmer installed. The right hand side has a box that still had fencing nails in it. Last license plate on the truck was 1962.

  7. Great truck! I like the dash treatment.
