first trip to the lone star round up

  1. I'll second that.

We were just over at my sister-in-law's place near Leander/Georgetown and they warned us about the prick cops there too.

So for those of y'all coming in from the north, you'll probably have to drive through their jurisdiction.

Funny, I usually message you every year about emabassy info. Guess you made it easy on me and went ahead and posted it this year!

    Made my reservations, thanks Marcy!

Something else to consider for those not staying as close as you can, Austin traffic sucks big time around LSRU time. so that 30 min's travel time becomes an hour and a half.

You need to be close to South Congress, because that's where you will end up late at night and the drive back to where you are staying can be ruff.

I took a RV to the convention center a couple years. That's even to far back! One year we about froze in the roadster getting back and another year I tried to cut through on MLK and got lost at 2 in the morning.

We always stay at the Hampton if we don't lucky and get in the Austin motel. It's not to far and you don't have to get on to the freeway.

    Got lucky again this year.

It was called to my attention that Embassy Suites is having some issues with the online booking system the last couple of days---if you have tried to make a reservation and are not getting the group rate please try calling direct at 512-469-9000

You won't be experiencing the Roundup if you stay outside of town. It's not just a 4 hour park your car show and then it breaks up and it's over.
It's seeing all the cars at your hotel, talking to people in the lobby, walking to nearby restaurants and talking to more people. You'll want to grab a room closer.

    Embassy Suites update:

If you THINK you might want to stay here, I would advise going ahead and making reservations. I called yesterday and was told they could accomodate me on thur and fri, but sat and sunday was booked up.

Apparently they released a few more rooms, because they went ahead and made all 4 of my nights there.

Thanks to Marcy for the heads up on getting in here. She's a big help as always!

And......WOOHOO!! Only 11 more weeks till we roll into Austin!! Now I know how my kids feel around Christmas time!!:D

Is there a HAMB get together place? I have lived in the Austin area for 3 years now, I want to finally make it to the lone star roundup with my 1928 Dodge.
Need to do fix the gas tank and charging system...
