first year for olds 98?

    my friend is wondering what the first year for an olds 98 is. Someones gotta know......................Briggs

    That would be 1941.
    Model designation was L41.
    It was the CUSTOM CRUISER 98.

    The first overhead v-8 would be
    1949. top of the line was the 98.

    I think it was 1941 , in 1940 they were called 90s , they added the 8 for number of cylinders. Not that there was a 96 but there was a 66 68 76 78 and 98
