I have a set of fish ent. ( Halibrand) look alike wheels. they are NOS but need a good cleanup/polishing touch up. I don't know much about these wheels and would appreciate any information, I have read an earlier post from 2008 ,,I think,,. I guess my main question is what are they worth. size is 15x4.5x4.5 and 15x8.5x4.5. They are going to be for sale ,but I've learned my lesson on selling something without knowing what it's actually worth. My best answer so far is stupid money, haven't figured out if it be me or the buyer. thanks to all for any help
Fish stuff is rare and nicely made. I'd say $2500 for the set of 4. If you want to sell or trade, PM me.
As with most everything, don’t clean too much. Just a wash, but don’t polish them before trying to sell. Granted they aren’t vintage, but some buyers might prefer the patina.
I've only seen Fish wheels one time, that was at GG Plesanton many years ago, thought they were Halibrands at first but they had no Hal nameplate. I had to ask the owner who made the wheels, they were a narrow front style and the thing that stuck in my mind was an odd lip on the back side rim O.D. of the wheel, hard to recall/describe details but I would recognize it if I saw it. More photos?
thanks to everyone who has responded they are boxed up and packed up. heading to GG Texas motor speedway will take post some pics when I get them out,, again thanks for all the responses
I also have a set Fish Ent. wheels that I purchased 1987 in La Crescenta and they're still unused...... Here are some pics.
Those are neat, rare! I'm sure that rear lip is like the one I saw, could you take an angled closeup shot.
I have a friend in Prescott AZ that probably is the most knowledgeable person I know about Fish wheels. Sometimes he runs them on his deuce 3 window.

I've got a pair on the back of one of my cars. 9" wide. Got'em at a swap meet, cheap. Been a long time, so I don't recall what cheap was, but not many had heard of "Fish", so he couldn't get top dollar for the wheels. I have a set of real Halibrands that are also 9" wide. Putting the two wheels side by side, the ONLY way to tell the difference, was that a couple of the corner radii were slightly larger on the Fish wheels. All of the rest of the shapes and contours are the same. But as I recall, the Fish wheels have "safety beads" on the inside of the rims, both front and back. He did a pretty good job of copying the Halibrand wheel. Mike
Fish wheels are the ones that got the "Hali" look correct, every other one missed - some by a mile. & were better, to boot. Too bad they went down. Problem is: can't buy everything, even most things, on a hope for someday. Foooey! & chasing prices is a loosing game(for me. Learned not to a long time ago. So like the 30's saying: do without). Marcus... PS: Don't suppose the molds are still around, someplace other than the bottomless pit of SpeedyBills...
thanks for all the information,,I'll try get some pics of mine this weekend, at the good guys meet at Texas motor speedway
Pat; No clue, haven't been there, but he does have some mold sets. But Bill's idea of collecting was to acquire to the point of owning the "market", & nothing that ever goes in, gets used as intended again. Parts, molds, whatever. Now that he's dead, I'll consider going thru the museum, it's not a priority - I intensely despise the man & his attitude, after a personal interaction years ago. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion & he formed mine permanently. Yours may vary. Marcus...
any idea what the coating is on the center of the wheel? Looks like a translucent gold / green. Is it a DOW 7 of DOW coating of some kind? I have several pairs of early torq thursts id like to get the centers that color.
I’ll take and post a closeup shot next week when I’m back home again. Sorry but the color in the pics are a bit misleading. The wheels are sandcast aluminum and there’s no coating on them. The centre is dull grey as cast, and the outer perimeter is machined.
I have a set of 15x4.5 with 5x5.5 bolt pattern on my 32. I'm trying to find a set of kidney bean 15x4 wheels. If I find a set I will be selling the fish wheels.
these are a set of Fish Products-Vintage Hal’s that Paris Fish made in the early 80’s and Eric Vaughn machined. I believe the tooling went to Eric when he manufactured his “Real Wheels”, has since been sold, then I think sold again?????? I’ve wanted a set of these since I saw them on the California Kid Coupe, that’s been nearly 45 yrs ago…….Now I just need matching rears.
I just sold a set of 4 to a friend of mine, I'm not sure if he is going to use them or not. I can find out, I know he won't sell just the rears.
