fitment? what the hell

my new pet peeve, and its driving me up the wall is the word fitment. see it all over idiot car shows on tv, someone must think they are in england talking about furniture, cause thats the usage for this word, look it up.....arghhhhhhh

fitment [ˈfɪtmənt]
n 1. (Engineering / Mechanical Engineering) Machinery an accessory attached to an assembly of parts
2. (Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Furniture) Chiefly Brit a detachable part of the furnishings of a room

I like #1. You really stuck on #2?
