I picked up a flatty the other day, it says 59 on the back of the bellhousing & 59a-b on the heads, it has factory releiving between the valves & cylinders, there is a rebuild tag on the motor & it looks real clean in & out, no visible cracks on the deck, think its out of a 46-48 1-2 ton truck.
Problem is the center main cap studs broke & the cap is broken & missing, the crank journal looks perfect, can I find another center main cap & install new studs & move on or have it line bored or is the block junk without the origonal cap?

New studs, another main cap. You may have to fish around a little to find one that is just right, but it can be done. You can also get after market center mains that are much beefier than stock. They will have to be line bored.
