Some time in the early eighties some goof ball put a four bar on the real deal. A record holder, 1958 B/G 105.88, Ok. City. For now it's getting hair pins, the plan is to throw the fenders and boards back on for a show in Oct.. (more on that later).
Man am I glad your getting rid of those UGLY four bars.... How are you fellas doin.... did you guys get the hood sides trimed for the docs car... Lets piss everybody off and repaint Regret ! Pat
how's the bump steer on that thing? man is that drag link angle WAY off. are those shock mounts the originals as well??
Turqoise.....needs billet wheels. The front end on Regret is the only thing that bothered me. Good choice.
Four bars have been used for decades, Pete & Jake's didn't invent the idea, they just brought it back to light! Tommy Ivo's 50s T had a four-bar, Some of Roth's cars had this set-up. yes, they used Ford tie rod ends instead of bushings. It's hard to believe whoever added the four bar and shocks didn't change that steering box too. Good thing since you're going back to the earlier setup anyway.
Yeah, the "goof ball" that did this is my Dad. And we realize four bars have been around forever, but not on this car. It has always had split wishbones and seeings it has some history the four bar has to go. As my dad says " If I die without fixing that car I'm going to hell!! hahaha Here is a picture of the batwing he made.
Last time I saw this car was at the Lansing mall in the early autumn. It really made my day to see it sitting there a****st a bunch of minivans and SUVs. I love that you guys are always out there using this like what it is... a car! -Dave
That's pretty clever! I got a pair of old wishbone ends laying around and that's exactly what they can be used for!!! Thanks for a tip! --mika
