I just installed a flamethrower kit from autoloc on my truck today. But I'm haveing proablems with it. When I push the*****on I get a small spark but it goes away, and no flames. Has anyone had any experience with this system? Can anyone help? [IMG]

My Kit is from SUREFLAMES ( or something like that, got it from NIGHTPROWLERS), and I thought that there was something wrong with mine when I first installed them. I got the same thing, small spark, no flame.

You have to let the tailpiped get hot, then she'll fire.....

These kits are usually set up when you hit the*****on it turns off the juice to your engine coil and fires up the coils to the exhaust. You should be able to hear the plugs sparking at the tailpipe by putting your ear to it. Don't start your engine, just hit the*****on and have someone listen for it.The plugs should be installed about 6-8 inches from the end. Its also good to get an extended tip hotter plug to reach into the pipe farther. Try increasing your gap some too. If your plugs aren't firing, your coils aren't getting any current and you will have to trace that back to the flame box. Maybe a ground problem too. The flame box and the coils need to be well grounded.

Well after sitting on hold for an hour I finally talked to a human on the tech line and they think something is wrong with my controll box. So off it goes for them to check out. The guy on the tech line said that when I press the*****on I should have a constant spark until I let go of it. As of now I only get one little spark when I press the*****on and it goes away, definitly not a constant spark. So it looks like bum parts [IMG] So much for FIRE tonight. Thanks for all the info. I'll post later when I get word from the tech people and get the diagnosis. [IMG]

  5. Yeah, probably the control box.

Now a word to the wise. The type of system you guys are talking about absolutely*****! Every time you cut the spark to your motor to get unburnt fuel to your tailpipes you are washing your cylinders in gas.

I almost went this route but decided I'd save myself a way too expensice rebuild on my Y-Block. I'm having a gas injection system set up.

You set up a EFI fuel pump w/ a nozzle in each exhaust pipe spraying fuel at a glow plug. None of this crazy cut the ignition business. Just nice, big 6-10 ft. flames.
