how long should you wait after you clear something to sand it and then tape off a flame job? Also what grit should you use when you wet sand it? Thanks Nate

Time has alot to do with the temp of the reducer and the temp and humidity outside. Any painter will tell you that. Some of this is done be feel and general knowledge. Maybe some painters on here can give you more poop. Sandpaper is another preference and feel question. Do you have alot of orange peel? It will be different on what your finish cam e out at. If it is real fine start fine 1000 or 1500 or even finer. Soap the water and go easy using a pad. keep it wet. If in doubt experiment but be aware of the cutting action. If in doubt stay fine.

IF you have a lot of orange peel, and IF you have enough clear on it now (at least 2 coats), you can sand it with 5 or 600 grit wet. Overnight is a good time to wait before sanding. Though if it's really cold where you have the car, wait a couple days.

  6. can you flame over normal clear? I had a problem in the past with lifting. I was then told to only use intercoat clear if painting over the clear.
