Anyone have any expirence with these trannies, or heard of them leaking out of the output shaft, they are hollow and I seem to be leaking fluid from the shaft I check the seals and they appear ok...any help would be much appreciated -Marco
Cool car. Will this help? It's for '58 Ford-o-matic. I'd post you a link to a website that you can get the whole manual, but their site's down right now. It's the Old Car Manual Project. Flatman
i had the cruisomatic apart from a tbird once and i seem to remember that it had a plug like a freeze plug in it. mite be wrong tho...it was several years back..ll
Yup thanks for all the info...I have learned that there is a freeze out plug on the output shaft that comes un-welded but cant be re-welded...So like any good hot-rodder knows JB Weld was invented for a reason. Only hang up here is the drive shaft is trapped between the tranny and the rear end...I have to drop the rear end, shocks, brake lines and leaf spring and slide them back to remove the drive shaft.... If anyone knows of any otherway that I may be missing please let me know.
Is this a torque tube car? Not understanding why you cant unbolt the u-joint at the diff. and drop the shaft down to pull it out of the tailshaft housing. These cars must be made a little different than anything I have worked on if it takes all that to remove a driveshaft to access a tailshaft housing.
