Planning to swap out my stock 3 speed with a 3 speed OD from another 1950 shoebox ford. It's coming off a 8ba instead. Any idea if it's a direct swap or will I run into issues? I just plan to do a toggle switch for the OD. The 3 speed OD comes with Bell housing, fork, and throw out bearing. Will that bell housing work? What issues will I have?

Doing this cause my stock 3 speed crapped out and ain't worth rebuilding. Just gonna put it away in the garage. This 3 speed OD is at a good price and off a running car.

This is a temp fix until my c4 on the column setup is ready.

    Thanks!

The '49-'50 6 & 8 transmissions are the same, but the '49-'51 6 & 8 cylinder bell housings are not, although they look very similar. The starter plates are totally different!
Just swap transmissions and you'll be fin

  3. Should be a bolt-in using the 6 cylinder bellhousing. Be sure and use a relay on your toggle switch setup for the OD. The solenoid pulls some pretty good amps.

Flat HEAD, flat HEAD. Why do people never make this mistake with a V8 Ford?
