You get a little closer every time I check on this build. This has been a learning experience for me.

  7. Just got cought up for the last couple of weeks. Great work Carl! That's one pretty Flatty you got there.

  8. Nothing like seeing a good ole' flathead race motor come together -- BUT the absolute best is the first time you get to fire her!

You'll be just like a little kid at Christmas, you'll have butterflies in your stomach and sweaty palms with anticipation . . . those are my favorite hotrod times my friend! :D

And this is what happens when you get your thumb and index finger in the wrong place when you let the valve spring compressor go..........thats why its called " Bumps and Bruises Racing"......blood blisters........

Thanks Tim, Roc, Virgil, and Dale, yes we're starting to get excited

Richard that is a Summit valve spring tester mounted in my drill press, the last one I made didn't work out so good so I bit the bullet and bought one,

Yes Dale the start is something I always look forward to specially this time as this is not just a street engine, get to try out some new ideas for me..........

I love it! Are the plans to now exit water out both the front and rear of the heads, like we'll do on the Flatcad?

  27. Close Buddy, plan to tie them together and use quick couplings in the front pump area to a heat exchanger that will have a 12V marine bilge pump to circulate the H2O through a cooler with a coil of copper tubeing and cold water IE: ICE Bucket between rounds. Since I have the block about 5/8 filled with block roc have an area to pipe into at the top of water pump.... Quick easy and no extra weight on dragster..........

    Very nice solution Carl:)!
And infact i am planning to drill a 1/8 NPT hole in the upper rear part of the heads, to mount the temp. sending units.
The same aerea as the head gasket use to blow-out.
