I have the birthday party on Saturday at Chucky Cheese lol! I will stay in touch. I don't get to see my little buddy as much as I would like so I try to spend as much time with him as possible.

Now at least when you are waiting for parts you can move on to other things in the back of your mind......
Burst plate for the 4-71, take one chunk of aluminum and remove everything that doesn't look like a burst plate, drill n tap 18 damn holes, hog out the rest........

I might just do that Carl. I will wait see what he wants to do. That looks like a lot of work Carl!! I found some Holley 2110 carbs that we might try on flatty. The are 1 5/32 inch bores which is a lot bigger than the 94s we are presently running. Will have to do some work on the intake in order to take advantage of the bigger carbs. We are also thinking blower maybe. The 2110's look just like the 94s only bigger by about 3/16 of an inch. Take a break for a little while Carl and have a cold one!!

  6. I used to run three of those 2110 carbs on one of my big race flatheads - ran really well and are a much more modern improvement to the Stromberg design. I also ran two of them on a blown flathead (SCoT blower) that was a race-only engine - ran well on that setup.

Lots of parts available as Holley used essentially the same carb (except for a 4-bolt base) on what was known as the 'Bug Spray' carbs for VWs in the 70's.

I've got a good stash of them - for future projects!

They just look a lot bigger than the 94s which they are which has to be a big advantage. More fuel and air means more HP!!

Makes me look forward to next year when we get to run the rail again with those carbs on it. We have 3 94s on it right now with 68 jets in them it and it still seems to want more fuel!

  9. then you need 4 94's

Going to try the 2110's for now since we don't have a 4 deuce manifold. Got 2 rebuilt and ordered a longer throttle shaft tonight for the last one.

  11. Well I got the blower plenum tacked together today, think I'm gonna call this manifold the "pig trough".........

Manifold looks cool. The burst panels we used to run would fatigue and fail from cycling on and off boost. We used to tap the web behind the burst panel for a small button head screw and lock nut. The head of the screw would snub and minimize oil canning of the burst panel. Keep up the good work.

  16. coupemerc, thanks for the advice I will do that to the burst panel...

well it looks cool ......even if it ain't done......

Not to Hyjack the thread here but were do you find the 2110s? What applications were they used on?

  18. 2110's were used on 55 Ford mercs and 56-57 Ford trucks plus a lot of other trucks......

  19. well another day another problem to fix, got the parts in for the trans.....

will take about .005 off the drum to clean it up, then will have some racing parts to put back in her!!!!

And the beat goes on, and on , and on.........

hey Carl, that rear band is manual low and reverse, it has to let completely go when the unit shifts into second, I always set my rear band to 3 turns out, built a million c4s.
could be your burnt band condition could be from dragging it in second ?
    just my 2cents.
I love your thread, iv been watching you since you started this.
    lots of luck to you.
    mark...

    Hey Carl,
Here is the intake manifold as it is being fly cut to match the size of the 2110 Holleys.
