Yea Kjell it seems stupid to me also on a car will never see the plus side of 130 but I do understand to replace them after an accident where they have been stressed, hard stressing them in the garage or at the strip. But I guess we have to keep the seat belt people in business, at least its made in USA. Yea Buddy every 2 years but it is just as much to recert them as to get new ones...........
I feel the same way Carl, The safety bizz is a money maker with all the recert deals the sanctioning bodies make the racers do, Car looks great as always good to see it back together,,, Tim Jones
Well got the new jack finished and it works...... Got the trans done and fired her up..... no leaks and looks like everything is ok once again time for T&T and off to the drags................ Also got this magnetic sign to add to the mix/ art work by Lance Hampton at artboink.com
Well I see Roseville Archimedes is still at it ( Give me some scrap iron and I will lift this Dragster) Nice jack and sign Carl,,,, Tim Jones
I have come to the conclusion I like in the wrong place What great stuff you have and do........sandy
Just trying to use my head for something besides a hat rack Sanford Yea Tim I got tired of trying to lift the digger with a sissors jack and wanted something besides a floor jack now that I have gone to smaller tires the floor jack won't fit under the frame so's its make something that will work........
Well she is back together now and wa la, now I have all three gears and Reverse, course it was not without trials and tribulations.......... sometimes its the shits getting older............ Now on to Eagle Field on the 16th!!!!.......... or if its rained out a T&T at Sacto on sat............
Good Luck at the races Carl, And thanks for the link to the flathead site lots of info on there, http://www.flatheadsrus.com/index.php?sid=7cb70d7b0f3097f187c473d7f502c604 Tim Jones
Cool video Carl, thank you for posting it.........you guys seem to be having way too much fun, Eagle Field looks like a great place to run. Quick question for you, how long do you think you can safely run the motor with no water in the block? Have just finished by build and am nervous about running it for too long. BTW it's not a flathead it's a SBC motor. Thanks Ray
I usually run it about 30-60 seconds total gets to about 190 then put a set of fans on her to cool her down takes about twenty minutes to get below 100 then its off again, I try to start after my opposition then get into the lights quickly......... next will be alcohol then I won't have to care about the time I run it.........
Thankx Trent And yes Ray, Eagle is a total blast, no big timers and just run for the sake of it, what else is there!! Rocky has a special place reserved for him for thaking all the time and effort to do this, he should be commended!! ..............
Thanks for the reply, so you run a temperature gauge then, didn't think one would work if the sender unit wasn't emersed in water..doh So it just sends a reading to the gauge of heat whatever the heat source, have to try that out, will save a lot of guessing. Wheres my wifes hairdrier........ Ray
Yea Ray when I filled my block and heads I used a release agent on the sender so that the fill material would be up against the sender probe works great on a flathead ............
The belt issue--- As a former Tech I have seen belts with welder burns, oil soaked, dryed out and faded to a point you could not tell they were originaly black, and some that had the holdown bolt thru the webing. It is for racer that the webbing must be changed often. The sun beating down on it unshaded in the pits, waiting in stageing, getting caught in a rain shower affects the webing. But as a tech inspector I can only judge mounting and any visable damage and Manf. date. I am not allowed to or able to asses the webing itself an only have the Manf date to go by. If not, and there was tragity the finger of blame goes to me because I thought the belt webbing looked good to me. WE cannot rely on EVERY racer to maintain there safety equiptment to the best standards possible, so for that reason EVERYBODY must get there Equipment-Repaired, re-certed, or replaced.
