Tim, HF tie downs with wrench to tighten them thats separate gets stowed when not in use, I was tired of chain, bolts and nuts and a binder so decided to do this, simple and easy to tie down now...........
Well another side trip, this has been in the garage taking up space for about a year or more now so I finally got off my ass....... so a little effort and wa la a used oil storage container.....
Carl, I do not know if you have seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2YHs0CG8MA8
Only about 10 times Glenn, thas one neat Flathead............ yea Tim and the price was right a buddy of mine gave it to me, suure will beat the 5 gal buckets I have all over here, make a little more room for other shit in the garage........
Carl, I'm loving the blower and injection setup! I can't wait to see this in person! Hey its here Buddy anytime, now I think I can get back on the fabrication of the blower since the ICT is finished......... Really solid tie-downs, no worries about strap abrasions. yea Dick I really like this idea better than what I had before with chain around the frame....... <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Carl, Randy and I are getting started on a 4-71 FlatCad fed, with 4 carbs converted to injection. We're gonna have to race!
We just pour our oil on the weeds. but you don't live in the "enviormential tree huggin, frog lovin, salamander kissin" state of Calif either Trent. Its hell out here................ don't they realize that oil came from the ground, WTF............... <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Hey Carl, I was wondering if anything needs to be done to the ignition timing on the flathead when you install a blower? We have acquired a Roadrunner blower setup for the rail.
Not that Carl wouldn't have good input but if you have a Roadrunner setup why don't you call Joe Abbin? He for sure can help you with your setup, he got a bit of experiance with those!
I run a Roadrunner on the ICT, and you have to scale back the timing I use 20 deg max with 2 degree static all in by 2000, I also use a 6al box with blower retard installed and an old chev mallory dual point that I converted to electronic with a pertronix trigger, been running it for ten years now. see..... http://www.flatheadv8.org/hei.htm course thats for the street and for race applications you need to keep an eye on the plugs, with the mallory its easy to change the curve........... and the timing tag will let you know where you are.......
Timing - blown application: It all depends on the fuel that you're running and the amount of boost. If you're running specialized race gas, then you typically use more timing. 1) What boost are you planning . . . or maybe a better question is what boost does that thing make? 2) Also - my guess is that you won't have an inter-cooler? Give us some more info and I can give you a good starting point. B&S
From what I have read it has 6.6 lbs of boost. We run Cam 2 race gas which is about 105 octane. We also run a vertex magneto. No inter-cooler. The engine is about 295 ci.
I was also wondering about the compression ratio on the heads. We have Edlebrock 400 heads. I am wondering if we have too much compression? From what I got off the roadrunner site it looks like we do.
