Along with cutting laminated glass in several tints one of the local glass shops (if 25 miles away is local) will cut plate glass to fit and after finishing the edges send it off to be tempered. I'd agree that making patterns out of Masonite and fitting them in the channels to get everything right is well worth the effort on modified rigs.
When both parties are Alliance Members, Ryan will make sure things get put right. In my case, the glass guy isn't, in the OP's case neither are. Bob's Classic Glass is an Alliance Vendor , probably would have been a better choice Membership has it's privileges
Don't get me wrong guys - I don't like throwin' money into the dumpster any more than the next guy. I'm not asking for Ryan's help here. I asked around prior - I was met with 100% assurance this guy was the real deal - I didn't see 1 negative comment anywhere - now there IS a humorous ironic side here is that I thought I read that Ryan was one of the guys speaking for this vendor I must have remembered that wrong. Hey shit happens, unfortunately for me I got the Monday morning hangover work. My only goal at this point is to save the next guy the grief alliance member or otherwise. Meanwhile I've already come to terms with the ass waxing - the lessons learned the hard way are the ones remembered the longest. I'll stick with a local vendor next time.
And that's why I don't the guys trying to save $5 or $50, by using mail order, when you can get it local. You go to pick it up, inspect before paying and if it's not right, tell them to try again or go else where. Stop making this shit so hard. When I did glass work with a friend, it took a few weeks to cut flat glass. Laminated took a few months longer. Go to Home Depot, get a QUALITY cutter and some glass and practice. Just like anything else, you'll learn appreciation for the craft and know what to look for. Polishing the edges is the easy part, but if not done correctly, will have you cutting another piece.
