Hello folks. Today I picked up a couple of flat head v/8 intake manifolds. One is a 2x2 by Edelbrock It has what appears to be an oil fill port on the front end just behind the generator mount. The other is a Offenhauser 3x2 with the end carbs marked 91-99 With Ford Script on the bodies. The center carb has a Holly Logo. When I compared them there seems to quite a bit of difference in the two manifolds when examined from the bottom side. I also noticed the fuel pump boss on the two is in a different orientation. I dont have pictures as I just got them this evening. I do have a 59 L flat head motor and was hoping to utilize on or the other on the motor. I bought these on a whim and hope I can p*** one along and keep one to use. The Edelbrock has no carbs. I will try to post some pics tomorrow. I think these are for the later blocks, but dont know a lot regarding flat motors? Anyone care to p*** along any information it would be appreciated.
The one with the holes in the top front is an 8ba (49-53) type. One hole is the oil fill, the other is the draft tube. With some modifications either will fit either early or late block.
If you are planning on using late (8BA) manifolds on early blocks (or vice-versa), it would be a good idea to review some of the PCV valve threads here and on "The Ford Barn".
The Edlebrock 2x2 has the oil fill boss, but no road draft boss or opening. I really need to get some photos posted for clarification. Thanks guys
I believe those carbs marked 91-99 are almost the same as the much sought after and expensive Stromberg 81s. V8 60 stuff.
