This is what I do. Always follow what the cam maker says to do. My Lunati instructions said to use an additive which I did. You want an oil that flows immediately and VR1 10w-30 will do that. Any new cam I pre-oil the **** out of it. Also make sure all systems are go so the engine will run for a 1/2 hour.
