Hi everyone and Merry Christmas. I'd like to share some interesting results.
Late fall, my Wife and I took an out of state trip in the 37 coupe. The engine ran well but on its last leg of the journey 10 miles from home I picked up an exhaust leak. This leak was at the top of the head and intake gasket area. I pulled the head shaved it and installed a new gasket to find out the leak was at the intake gasket. 25-30,000 miles ago I installed an 8BA in this thing and decided to add a PCV under the Thickstun intake.
The setup included welding a cap onto the front breather, attaching a fuel line that runs under the intake to a PCV valve installed at the rear portion of the intake. Then a vac line on top of the intake from the PCV valve to a drilled runner chamber between rear carb mounts.
When I pulled the intake I was surprised to see the valve valley so clean. No sludge. I was hesitant running a rubber fuel line in this area but found it was pliable and in great shape.
Its well worth taking an extra day and installing these setups.
This has been a great running engine. Wish I had a garage full.

    Heres a few pics.

Looking good Petejoe, nice and clean. What weight/brand of oil are you using?

You are such a daredevil! Didn't you ever learn that you have to put a 3 fiddy-3 fiddy in it to make it dependable??:D:D

It sure looks good inside. It wouldn't look like that if you just had breathers for vents! PCV valves work!

Always good to see/hear an update on mods that were made. My pcv setup is external on the pickup but results have been similar. Thanks

    Thanks guys.
The oil I've used since the onset is Valvoline Racing oil Straight 50.

    Hey Rick

Nice setup. I'm putting a PCV in my 8BA and was curious if oil vapor from the crankcase could be pulled thru the valve and down the intake. Does this gum up the intake valves at all? Have you had the heads off?

I was thinking of running a hose from the pcv to one of the headers in order to avoid this.

I have a PCV under the intake in mine too, and it makes a big difference to the level of oil leakage around the flywheel, I took it off for a while diagnosing a funny stumble,(ended up being a powervalve issue) and noticed my rear main leak increased dramatically (this is on a 39 motor with no rear seal, just the labrinth type slinger). My valley is clean as a whistle too .(admittedly have only done about 4000 miles so far..)

    No John,
I see no evidence of this, Yes I had one head off.
As far as more info on the setup. Roy below has it correct.
