Fastsporty; I believe you can drive it out from inside the block by using a long drift punch. You'll see the end of the shaft when you look inside the block.Be careful and don't mash the block!
Thats what I figured and actually I tried that but only half heartedly. I didn't want to mess anything up.
They can sometimes be a bear to get out. Ive had best results with a punch and PB Blaster. Tap lightly in both directions until you feel some give. Keep lubricating with the PB and continue the back and forth and it will finally pop out. Putting too much whack or a slide hammer into it could score the surfaces.
