I’m trying to envision how to solve this one. Flathead crank snout has two pulleys. One for water pumps and one for generator/alternator. Second belt closer to radiator turns fan. I’m replacing intake with Edelbrock with 3 Stombergs. I’ve purchased an offset mount for the alternator (passenger side). So, the mount that the fan assembly was using is now gone. Now what? Configure a pulley to replace alternator? Ignore outward pulley and use electric fan? Anyone solved this one? All potential solutions welcome.
Not sure if these pics will help (if I get them to post) but this is what I did on my 8BA. Cut the front pulley off and reverse the fan shaft bracket (a little grinding required) and it all fell together.
Great photos and a neat install. Do you have a shot of the alternator mount? It would help to envision the complete set up. Thanks
Thanks for posting the pics. I’m going to have to wait until I mock up the parts. I like what you’ve done and will try to do something similar.
The offset gen bracket like Tractor's & T's should work. There's another style that mounts on the head using the head bolts for an early motor. You would need to use spacers and longer head bolts to clear the water outlet.
I don’t see an issue, Edelbrock with three chandler groves, offset( to right) gen bracket. Fan bolts in stock location. Oh, and just ignore the redneck fuel induction system. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Good idea, but use an old starter-generator from a International Cub Loboy and you would have the best of both worlds!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That is slick! Is that in a model A? If so, did it save you from having to notch the firewall? I'd love more photos of your whole engine install. Perhaps by PM as note to hi-jack this post. Thanks, Carl
